tournament results aren’t a perfect measure of success by any means, but they’re still the most objective measure we have. it’s true that there are some killers out there who just don’t get many opportunities to travel to tournaments. but there are also bound to be people who think they belong in the aforementioned category, but actually just suck.
that’s the difference between somebody showing up out of nowhere and placing well once, and somebody just never showing up. I think you need to at least prove yourself capable of doing well in tournament to be considered a strong player, even if you don’t attend often.
He has an account for Guile which already reached Super Diamond.
He won Canada Cup, NA Finals and Capcom Cup one after the other, beating Tokido, MOV, Xian, Wong and shitting on the guy that was the best in the world at that time after his success at ESL and SCR, Xiaohai.
Player skill takes tournament rules and format into account, you can’t really say that Du is a “better tournament player” while not being more skilled than his opponents.
she is a motion character with good pokes, good mobility, and a fireball. shotos occupied that niche in 4 but now that they’ve have had their limbs amputated there really isn’t a character in SFV who represents that playstyle. Nash came the closest but… not quite.
if only Chun was a motion character I’d pick her up in a heartbeat :s
Ah ok. Makes more sense now. Either way I still don’t see him solo maining Guile especially if he’s also still as invested as he seems in Ryu. If he was stubborn enough to blow off naysayers about him being the 2nd best Ryu and focus on his own improvement, I don’t see him making any full switch now. It’s not an AE Ryu dire situation. He wouldn’t bother also pushing Ryu in ranked if he was going to make a hard switch.
He just has a very different mentality from Tokido who pretty much goes for the cheapest shoto or something cheaper if none of the shotos are cheap enough. Tokido I’m sure hasn’t touched Ryu since Season 2 dropped.
Guile has 2 accounts one for Guile and one for Ryu. mememem and mememesub
So no he isn’t using one for ranked and one for casual like you think. He will use both obviously. He would be stupid to run Ryu against Rog,Rashid, etc, etc Any bad matchup for Ryu got horrible now.
The hate for Rose and the hate for Nash just tells me there are too many frauds who can’t handle spacing and footies. Both characters are really fair with built in designed weaknesses.
Backdash isn’t you problem if you stuggle’d against these characters. It means you have poor timing, poor spacing, and poor reads on when to walk forward/ jump/ or challenge with buttons.
And again, these same silly people are the ones who whine that Sagat isn’t in the game. SFV Sagat will be the next salt maker.
I can’t even think of a reason to pick Ryu or Guile at this point.
Guile has better fireball.
Guile has on par if not better damage.
Guile has on par if not stronger reversal.
Guile has better normals.
Guile has faster V-reversal i think.
Guile has better walkspeed.
Guile has better shimmy options with UDK than Ryu will ever have.
unless you really are a diehard shoto fan, there is zero reason to use him over Guile.
Just got done installing all my new parts, my mobo is old and caused some serious issues getting everything compatible. Should upgrade my mobo and CPU the next chance I get.
Anyone know what I need to do to disable JUST motion blur on SFV when on max settings? Blur is pissing me off already.
That’s because people are asking the wrong question. It isn’t who will save SF5, rather it is WHEN. That’s right, I have it on good authority that a lethal cocktail of the 30th anniversary delicately laced with memberberry juice will lull the casuals into a hypnotic haze, lubricating their wallets and minds, and easing their way into SF5’s proverbial vagina.
That’s what he SHOULD do, but Daigo does what HE wants to do. Not what he should do. That’s what makes Daigo who he is. It’s the premise of his entire book basically.
NuckleDu had 3 characters in Season 1 and Infiltration also runs multiple characters so it wouldn’t be hard to run both Ryu and Guile just on a technical standpoint. They’re more demanding neutrally and technically than some other characters, but nothing out of Daigo’s reach.
I can see him using Ryu vs Sim, Juri and other characters who are really threatening to Guile’s ranged gameplan.
There is the off chance that he’ll actually use Urien in tournaments, but unless I’m mistaken he’s only used him in casual matches ATM.
Guile is a charge character. Its a different player experience and a different mindset going into a match. Guile is objectively better, but Ryu offers more flexibility in approach.
For the record @“DevilJin 01” , he has a separate account in diamond where he has used only Guile.
He looks like hes trying them both out before the season starts.
Yeah I have the same opinion. Guile is “technically” better, but there are some matchups where Ryu’s ability to switch to offense will be better. Ryu’s improved V Skill and V Trigger options are most likely being slept on.
