I honestly think Gief can hold his own against the majority of the cast. The new lariat range buffs helps him alot against characters like Guile. Lariat in general is very good now and can whiff punish with st lk easily. The only character Gief loses horribly too now is Sim. If Gief players werent so stubborn they would have a pocket character like Necalli or Balrog just for that matchup. Other than that I think he is in a very good spot now. Im excited to see some top tier Gief play in 2017 =)

You know, there is one Necalli nerf I could get behind. Tone down the brightness on his CPT and Halloween V Trigger costumes. I mean sure, it’s good for teaching new Necalli players to watch the opponent’s character instead of their own but by god is it too bright.

I wish they would give you the option to turn off non-default costumes in general. I can’t stand most of the bonus costumes that I’ve played against. I’ve flat out not done rematches or left battle lounges because people play that Halloween Necali and Alex costumes. They are retarded.

The only character Gief loses horribly too now is Sim.

None of those changes for gief will stop vega from conquering him. Vega could already laugh gief off easily and with the buffs to claw stance easier yet.

Alex is still the Stun King no question but I don’t think his new headbutt/stomp setups compensate for his elbows being neutered and his medium buttons being slowed down
Sure most characters have worse wakes up now but his is still among the worst in the game
I don’t think his bad match ups got any better and the Cammy MU probably got worse

This season seems to be trying to promote polarizing matchups in general, unlike S1 where the top tiers were mainly jack of all trades types who were strong but still fairly beatable by most of the cast. Expect to see more counterpicks this season.

personally i see necalli as being stronger than he was due to throw loops in the corner, and vt throw loops that legit work on some characters midscreen
