The Street Fighter V Lounge - Balrog Mains on Suicide Watch

He be that man on the moon, he that man on that moon, and he’s gonna do what he do, so do you, hey, hey! He up there, we down here, you jealous of his location nigga!

The wifi is strong.

I feel like I’m in a badly dubbed kung fu movie with Ryu and Ken on the Vs screen. What where they thinking.

HEYYYY!!! I was waiting for ya!

Holy shit ggs @“DevilJin 01”

Chun is monstrous wtf this char smh

GG’s bro. I started out alright, but you caught on and figured out the footsie game more later on in the set. Didn’t help that I didn’t just blow super on some combos that I should have. That c.MP is really strong once you get in. I’ll record that set and put the video up later. Was fun.

LOL yeah it’s pretty amazing that she got changed so much and is still this good. s.HP being super cancelable was the last best thing they gave her before the game came out. Just go 3S on people fishing for super.

Yeah, the match is pure footsies. I need a good answer to that st.hp.

And its cancellable?!

Capcom plz

Only into super.

Karin should be able to super cancel her st.rh.

I played all over the joint. To name some arcades that I’ve been to and others that were my home arcade:

Laundromat by my house for WW… About 15 steady players there for 2 years.
4th street arcade in Hermosa. Home to 2 of the la guys that contributed to the sfA2 guide.
Aladdins castle in del amo mall. Around when ST came out. But I didn’t play ST there, mostly alpha 1 and the first killer instinct. Then left and came back years later for soul calibur 2.
I went to shgl a couple of times.
Bowling alley at the South Bay galleria mall.
Lakewood mall arcade.

Then I stopped playing most fighting games from 2000-2006

Then sf4 came out at evo and I played there, then it came to super arcade, v 94 and arcade infinity and I played there 8-10 hours a day on the weekends. Visited FFA and denjin arcade a bit as well, but not much.
Got a 69 game winstreak at AI one weekend, that was cool.
Placed 13th in a 64 man stacked sf4 tournie at denjin and played casuals with Valle, watts and choi on the A2 machine while waiting… That was also cool.

Went out 0-2 at some SCR tournament… That wasn’t so cool.

I’ve never been close to top player strength. But in sf4 at least I managed to take almost every top player off the arcade machines at one point or another… The only arcade player I’ve never won a game against was Valle… He owns my soul.

Speaking of that, I played in the nickel city tournie for sfa3 nationals in San Jose… So I mean… Whether I’m good is in the eye of the beholder, but I’ve got experience. And I don’t remember any scrubs that really bothered me with there jumping in, like they do on this game… Maybe scrub play is just a traumatic experience and it’s been wiped from my mind… Idk.

Who are you in the scene? Have we met?

I keep getting all these random invites, if anyone from here is sending me one I’d appreciate a message letting me know. I’ll be glad to play a set, but for some reason I like knowing I’m not playing some random person

It took 14 hours (turning the console on and off in between) to do it, but I got Rashid’s Hard mode colors.

Anyone else down to play? FT10?

Ill play a ft5 if you don’t mind playing a scrub

Ah’ yes, growing up in California, a true Californian knows that every laundry mat, every liqour store back then in the late 90’s, early 2000’s, and mid 2000’s had a MvC1 or 2 Cab, or SNK cab. XD

@EmblemLord that was me you just played fyi, thanks for the games

Just read Capcom’s twitter. Balrog’s V-Trigger will take away players fight money if he lands any normal during the duration.

Anyone else find it weird that Nadeshko isn’t mentioned at all in Mika’s story but this random woman dressed in appropriate wrestling attire just charges in to drop kick and fly tackle your opponent in the middle of a fight.

The guys in the story thread brought it up. Definitely weird. She should be traveling with her instead of Zangief.

That was actually an Alladin’s Castle as well, i picked up DDR because MVC2 was always dead.

Before the SF4 era I played 3s at Regency, AI, and the arcade in CSULB. When SF4 dropped, 3S started to die down so, I started to play 4 at AI and V94, but that died off when Super came out and things switched to mostly console meetups and I was one of the big online lobby monsters with SRKLive, PJS, and eventually PXG. I didn’t start entering tournaments in earnest until sf4 where i won some of the early local stuff here.

I’m king scrub in majors, but locally my first okay results in bigger tournaments were 13th at a 128 man SD tournament where i lost to Futile in winners(ex upball left him with magic pixel and having a reversal that is punishable on hit sucks) and Ken I double jeopardied me in losers after i destroyed him on stream. I go to WNF only a couple of times a year, but I got 5th before, and 13th in one of the pre SCR ones with over a hundred entrants. Ranbats here in Long Beach I won a few times and I finished 2nd in two seasons we had. Hugo101/OnlineTony/Myself finished 1-2-3 at 90% of the ranbats here to the point where people just gave up on trying and it ended up killing our local tournaments. Got 2nd at a 50 man sfxt release tournament lost to Vicious who kept joking about his early access to the game, and 7th at the levelup one they had, lost to Combofiend and LI Joe, dropped the game winning combo vs. combofiend to force g3, and ended up losing to LI Joe after he switched off of Rolento after game 1 in top 8 and I lost my matchup knowledge advantage.

@lukybear threw a sf4 tournament in his house years ago and Snake Eyez showed up kind of unexpectedly, and everyone is kind of expecting him to win free. Evo champ, and he’d recently started to tear up WNF in SF4. Winners finals I beat him 3-1 or 3-0 pretty soundly, and the room is just kind of dead silent. Grand Finals rolls around and he takes the first set 3-1, and the atmosphere in the room kind of changed back to that “oh of course he’ll win he’s Snake Eyez” stuff. Set 2 is close, and the room kind of shifts again, it’s more like “wait this is an amazing back and forth set”. It’s 2-2 and there are just a bunch of amazing reads back and forth, room is going nuts. I lost the second set 2-3 but earned the respect of not only the locals, but of a crazy strong player. Spent the next like hour or so talking tech/fighting game philosophy, and strengthened my netplay friendslist(quite underrated). GFs was too hype though and we got the cops called on us.

Like idk if I’m anybody. I think i’m the strongest SF player in this city, I’ve consistently placed decently in locals, and I’ve played all sorts of players who play in all sorts of ways. I held my own in sf4 playing a weak character, but I know I’m a poor tournament player compared to what my actual skill level is.
