The Street Fighter V Lounge - Balrog Mains on Suicide Watch

Karin doesn’t have any safe moves besides her shoulder lol. Everything else is highly punishable.

I’m starting to realize some players have a hard time playing a Karin that doesn’t have a problem sitting back and picking opportunities. I tell you did I said earlier I was going to practice my shoulder blockstrings for a hours and those are my results. Still have a lot to learn of course.

Also I might release some new color schemes for characters once I figure out the easiest way to make them accessible. You have to unpack the entire game to use mods. And I’m sure the next big update will fuck over everything again.

Edit: Another thing…I’m starting to see my opponent’s character literally turn around full screen for no reason. It’ll happen randomly and it’s a split second motion. Has anyone seen this? They’ll turn around like you jumped over them but you’re full screen

Alt+f4 is a pretty good special

Ah, now that I think about it… Aren’t you the guy who did that Succubus Juri mod in Ultra? Nice stuff.

Not a great night for me :anguished: . Anyway, if anyone wants to play sometime hit me up; I get a little bored doing ranked sometimes…

I’m watching a Street Fighter V stream (Arturo) still can’t believe this game is out, and no one’s streaming USF4, crazy.

Fuck that game.

Thanks for this post  Made me feel a bit better about losing in V for some weird reason.

A lot of the time I would go in with Guile anyway unless I was in a dire situation and I felt zoning was the best way to win. But yeah I agree with thats the way Guile is standardly played.

I’m probably just far to used to IV as thats the only one I have got properly into and haven’t played V enough to realise my gameplay needs to change.

I played a part but the credit goes to BrutalAce. But yeah I did a lot of edits in SF4…Google Trife88 SF4 and they’ll pop up

Woo, you cool.

Why is there an Alex subforum now? Are they gonna drop an Alex trailer tomorrow?

Justin on stream talking about his top 5, a few days I had that discussion with a friend.

I think Cammy (brain dead easy, probably the easiest of all characters) Chun Li, Karin (super easy outside of memorizing her long move list) and Dhalsim are pretty good.

As for the 5th spot, I dunno, i’m still forming an opinion on it, i’m not gonna just copy what a pro says, gonna find out the 5th one for myself.

Stop the passive aggressive shit.

Do. We. Have. A. Mother. Fucking. Problem.

really b/c so far the game seems to be mostly about bison memes & repeating the same canned dhalsim teleport mixup until someone loses Kappa

related: it’s been fun watching players who started with sf4 take so many tournaments, it’s almost as though the “sf4 players are gonna get blown up when sf5 releases” meme has no basis in reality

i have trouble deciding who’s good, other than bison being good. dhalsim and nash are common early picks but i think both of those characters are getting away with a ton of nonsense and i want to see if they’re still doing well when that stuff stops working

i think rashid is sort of a dark horse for sf5 and a lot of people are dismissing the character for no reason… maybe because he kind of reminds them of blanka or el fuerte? idk

Hey quick question guys. If a “true block-string” only occurs when the frame advantage on block is the equal to the startup frames of the following attack, then why is Ken’s jab, jab sequence considered a true-block string if jab is +2 on block and has 4 startup frames? I don’t understand how that works…

It’s because jab jab is a chain. To put it simply without complicating things too much: chains can be cancelled earlier in the animation than links can. There are no global rules for how chains work, but many characters can chain their light attacks together and “target combos” work similarly to chains too.

Not all chains and target combos are guaranteed to be blockstrings, but most probably will be.

I really wish people realized that survival mode is arcade mode (with online matches set to on.) Here you are grinding out matches against the cpu and a mother fucker comes up and challenges you. Sounds like an arcade to me!

Thanks. That makes sense I suppose. Are there any true-block strings in SFV that are actually directly a result of the frame advantage on block being the same as the frame advantage on hit? Cause it seems like chainable light attacks bypass that rule completely. Idk if rule is the appropriate word here. The “mechanics” of it sound better.

Well, any normal that is +3 on block will go into any jab or short that’s +3, so I imagine there’s an example somewhere but outside of that example and jump-ins, not really

I promise it’s not passive aggressive! hug! modders are cool!

I like you, if I didn’t, i’d just say " bitch, I don’t like you. "
