I’m told SamSho’s netcode is an abomination.
Like, over half of the mainline games ain’t built for it.
Who wanna practice some Skullgirls tomorrow tho?

Yeah, SamSho is another.
So that makes…SF5, T7, SamSho, UNICLR, and DBF with all questionable netcodes.
Something goofy has happened here.
Edit: oh and Fantasy Strike got snubbed.
Literally every top Smash player outright quit playing Online Tourneys within the last month. Every single one said they’d rather not bother.
Smash Netcode is on a level of shit even SNK hasn’t reached.
And here is the FGC just dealing with the struggle.
Sounds like they’re all #Cowards
All those games netplaty def arent good but you seriously underestimate how bad smashU’s netcode plus native input delay is. I’m p sure the best possible netplay match in smashu is like 5f or 6f delay minimum.
Those other games can also benefit from being run on PC to save an extra couple frames, so I’m interested in seeing what platfoms they open up for. Maybe they’ll try to get the community to vote?
I cant wait for people to try learning skullgirls only to find out how disgustingly ignorant and greasy that game actually is
theres a reason no one plays it lol
Because I got tired of trying to find an universal BnB in a game with 10 characters.
If we mention skullgirls enough we might get a Dime post about how he was top 32.
Oh, I’m aware, I watched a tournament once and I was like “Man, this is disgusting, are people actually supposed to block these incoming mixups?”
I just like playing Parasoul and Big Band is a top tier design.
Man, the Smash Reddit is actually praising this decision.
The netcode can’t be that bad, can it?
Just to be clear, I’ve played on some of SNK’s worst offerings when it comes to netcode. NGBC, KOF02 and so on.
SmashUlt is in a league of its own on terribleness. Nintendo gives less than negative 500 fucks about netcode.
Because they want you playing with groups of friends, not by yourself at home.
#GetFriendsNotRollback
And that tactic usually works, which is why basically no one ever talks about their netcode offerings for more than two seconds, especially considering the Switch’s gimmick.
Problem is when a worldwide pandemic forces everyone to stay at home and actually use the online play provided…well now it has a gigantic spotlight forced on it and everyone sees how little of a shit they’ve always had for it.
Man people are fast

Never forget Mahvel’s sacrifice
Also was able to get some time to play Iroha today. Thankfully, she’s actually really fun. Can see her being a secondary in the future. Her having no run though is killing me though.
Random note, it’s funny how at the time Skullgirls was treated as the “true” MvC3 but man just looking now and looking back it feels SO far from the truth it’s ridiculous. Combos that are even more pedantic than MvC3, updates every two seconds changing things and the game just feels really unintuitive a lot of the time.
That’s the thing about Marvel 2, it doesn’t take much to go from the base mechanics into the higher level ones from a basis of understanding. Outside of really specific stuff like Unfly or Guard Breaks everything flows and makes sense and can easily branch off into one another from even simple questions. For all of Marvel 3’s faults, I do think it shares in that. It’s not a hard game to grasp whatsoever. Skullgirls I feel is mired down in so much stuff that it’s a pain in the ass to actually get into the game itself. It’s a flaw I think the Power Rangers game also shares and ironically both games are headed by MvC2 heads.
A big source of all of this is in the combo system of all 4 games. For both Marvel 2 and Marvel 3, you learn Magic Series, you learn OTGs…done. At that point all you have to do is learn your character’s specific moves and generally everything else comes naturally and then it’s a quick step from there to the actual meat of the game. For both Skullgirls and BFTG there’s so much shit built on top of each other to build a “fair” combo system that it’s just overly complicated and muddled.
Skullgirls wasnt trying to build a fair combo system, he was trying to prevent infinites. Mike Z was always okay with ToDs.
You’re right though. Not having something as simple as launcher into magic series really kills your ability to pick it up and go. Thats the good thing about BBTag. Even if you’re starting out, you can put together some type of easy combo and just grt by with it while you learn better things.
Obviously not the people who hate shit ass fanservice games.
those 5-6 people don’t matter and in a better world would be subject to forced sterilization
in the end
come crawling back, eh?
Sure Smash isnt at Evo, but at the cost of Violence Fanservice 11 and Them Fighting Yiffers replacing it.
The cost may have been too high.
To me “preventing infinites” in a Vs. Style game IS trying to build a “fair” combo system. The problem is that the goal shouldn’t be the prevent infinites, but make a game where infinites aren’t necessarily the best things you can be doing. In MvC2 outside of a few characters, most of them low tier outside of ole Stark, there are just stronger and safer things you can do to kill characters that don’t involve infinites. In MvC3 if you don’t consider Lightning Loops an infinite (I feel it’s in the same area as chaining AHVB where the excessive use of meter, albeit in this case self-regenerating, disqualifies it) then all you really have for infinites that are relevant are TAC Infinites which require a guess on your end and are still very easy to mess up.
Both Marvel games said “fuck it, you can have infinites but there’s much stronger shit you could be doing” which allowed them to stay to a very simple system. Both Skullgirls and BFTG went so far out of their way over time to avoid infinites that it turned the combo systems into a complete mess. I should not need 30 minute videos to understand how a combo system works at its core.
Top 8 i think.
I played him yesterday and bopped his Chun with my Honda.
He switched to Urien and beat me pretty bad for one final match. I said “fuck that, gimme a run back…”
He sent me a msg that basically said “lol… No”
