The Street Fighter 3poxy Strike: Everybody at home but SF5 doesn't have Netcode

I will say that SFV does a great job of pulling me back in. The possibility of things to lab in its training mode, as well as the ranking system (which I really like) and the quantity of matches available in it are the key ones. Plus, I prefer links over gatling/target combos.

I’m not a huge fan of the game though, so I get tempted after a month or two break, play for a few weeks, and start bitching again, then repeat.

I will say this netcode has ruined it for me though. It was bad before, but I could live with it. I don’t think I’m there anymore.

In other news my Fahkurahm is getting kinda clean. :triumph:

Finally able to tear myself away from league for a bit.

Not only do i do that, I still ran the set and come into this thread asking if anybody wants to play it.

So I dont know wtf. If you’re complaining about Cipher then you arent reading a lot of other posts.

Hell Bea plays regularly and she spends her days complaining about the netcode.

I swear I don’t think I’ve seen Bea say something positive bout SFV besides throwing a tourney or getting a higher rank. Legit rage and shit flinging if her post is related to SFV. :joy:

It is what it is at this point. I knew I finally cut ties with SFV when I didn’t even check the most recent patch notes and stop watching match footage v

Didn’t get to see you in Hawkingbird. Is there a stream schedule or was it just off the cuff. I hadn’t Hawkingbird’s Alex in years. Back when we used to play with @Jerom I still don’t understand the rationale behInd Alex’s Powerbomb resetting to neutral. He shouldn’t have a Gief level advantage but he should get something.

Menat is an interesting case. Despite people bitching about Falke’s staff having a hurtbox, that is the norm. With her Menat doesn’t have that handicap. Which something all other long range characters have to contend with. Given her extreme range it seems like an fair advantage. That said the character is good but overbearing. I’m honest not sure how resolve the issue without ruining her viability. I’m all ears on this one.

Didn’t make one on projectiles. I’m more than willing to discuss. I actually get more gameplay debates or feedback out of the story thread than in here. People sometimes give us story thread residents shit. But we actually talk more Street Fighter there than in here.

The matchmaking patch was terrible. I could play Volt okay on the netcode patch but the match making patch has really screwed with the quality of the matches. I feel for players in more distance/ sparse regions but they got straight screwed by the update.

I honestly don’t think most FGs do that all that well. It’s usually one option that’s used 90% of the time midscreen and similarly in the corner, with slight variations based on your meter situation. In SF, KOF, Soul Calibur, UNIST, etc I’ll almost always use the same combo from the same starter and do very little variation on it, because there’s usually only one optimal variation. If I use something else than the “obvious” choice, it’s usually just because I’m a lazy bastard who isn’t optimizing where I should be.

The reason I think Xrd and KI are good examples there, are because I’ll have to make decisions on what I want out of my combo in terms of damage, meter building or the post-combo situation. With Ky, do I want to a stun dipper ender for max meter and decent oki? Do I want to gain less meter but get a superior okizeme-situation by ending in 2D, which might force my opponent to burn meter himself to get out? Should I burn meter on an RC for a bit more damage and corner carry, when it’s going to gut my own meter gain for the next few seconds? Should I do max damage but forgo oki afterwards? Should I do a really suboptimal combo just to make sure my opponent can’t burst? etc etc
A lot of the time there’s not “correct” answer to any of those questions in those games, just pros and cons to one particular choice. And I really like that.

How do you feel about Menat having Dhalsim limbs without the limitations?

Lowkey I feel like Dhalsim is better than Menat at the moment. :coffee:

That isnt the issue. But Sim has an importan drawback to his limb situation: you can hit them. Thats a hallmark balancing part of that design.

Menat doesnt and it creates issues. Menat may work in other games, but is that good or bad in an SF game?

SFV is very different than other SF games. She’d likely be a problem copy pasted into another SF game, has very polarizing matchups she curbstomps, but I feel it evens out with how bad some characters absolutely body her shit free.

So yeah bad design, but ultimately ok cause how easy it is to free her up. I’m likely biased having mained mika and Balrog.

Dude was straight up trolling and antagonizing people. You can be an abrasive ass at times but I never asked for you to be banned. I’ve been posting on the internet longer that quite a few people here have been alive. 27 years to be specific. I don’t make habit of asking for people to get banned. Even in Ciphers case I agreed with people that thought he should get bopped and didn’t propose it. We don’t all get along here, we disagree, we give each other shit, but how many people do you see me asking to get banned? There is a reason for that. Also don’t act like I was only one that felt that why I either.

Hot take, but I think Menat’s orb should be considered a projectile.

If Menat had hurtboxes on orb she’d be garbage. Worse than she is now.

I am having visions of SF2 Gief full screen SPDing people now

Mika, Balrog, Necalli and bison shit on Menat so fucking hard. If she had hurtboxes on orb they might as well delete her.

The big issue is that if people arent bringing up enough SF5 here, anybody can bring it up. Even @Doctrine_Dark and he is taking a break. But people arent.

I cant be arsed anymore because no regular chip kills has costed me a lot of games and has given me wins I dont feel I deserved. I’m tired of that artificial loss prevention being a central part of this game. That change isnt interesting or fun.

Like I’ve said before. I HAAAAATE parries. Holy shit do I hate what it does to the game. But here I am playing 3S and accepting that over the whole if SF5 netcode and all.

So it is what it is. You dont feel there’s enough SF5, dont blame it on the posters. Ask yourself why people dont want to bring it up more often.

I don’t hate parries but I can see how they rub people the wrong way. I like what high level players can pull off with them. I also like how it punishes “flowchart” play. The only thing I don’t like about them is they nullify projectile zoning.

Yeah, i’m not a huge fan of that, or air parries either, but I like what they can do in typical neutral play (in my experience anyway).

I really think ST is the best SF game mechanically, but I really like the additions of dashes, super jumps, and the expansion of combos/hit-confirms.

But her design would make sense.

A lot of Menat’s problems stem from the fact that if you make her orb a projectile like it should be, she’d be garbage because SFV shits on projectiles.

So they had to make her orb a physical move without a hurtbox because she would be nerfed Sim otherwise.

Because of her bullshit orb and VT, now they can’t give her good or really unique specials or she’d break the game.

It’s a spiral of bad decisions that ultimately makes her design bad.
All because the core of SFV is severely flawed and skewed to favor rushdown because it’s more “exciting” for viewers.

Also, completely unrelated, but I played Civ with my friends again yesterday.

I won by a landslide once again, but this time my friends decided to team up on me and force me into a two-front war. They did that waaaay too late and ended up bringing slingshots to a gunfight though. However, by the time they both declared war on me, one of them tried to attack one of my units to start the war off.
It wasn’t my unit he clicked on.
It was a Hunnic AI player.
His misclick declared war on the Huns, who had their entire army inconspicuosly waiting outside of his second biggest city because that’s what the Huns do. A city that had been conquered and razed three turns later.

I laughed.

Hey guy :+1::+1:

I am a third strike player :sunglasses:

SF5 I only play once so I do not know much about it🤔

SF4 is like second job with no pay, too many fighters, focus attack is like shittty parry :joy: iPhone version is fun and they make Korean SF4 game you can pay money for better characters  I am surprised they do not put that in SF5 on console :joy:
