A lot of people that don’t enjoy the game still follow the CPT and Corona has bodied the offline tournament scene. I don’t get to watch NLBC anymore because I have to get to work so early now. I really wanted to see how Idom did with the target on his back.
Bro you just reminded me…I was gonna see Alicia Keys in concert for the first time this fall before this damn virus hit.
Funny you bring that up because I was thinking earlier that the combo length is probably my least favorite thing about uni, but I came to the conclusion its for the best that it is the way it is
The way i see it, theres only a few ways to make combos satisfying in a fighting game, either theyre short and the challenge comes from confirming hits and/or tight links, or they’re long and the challenge comes from not fucking it up. With the amount of cancelling options uni has, hitconfirming isnt usually an issue. I cant imagine how you would shorten combos without also fucking up how pressure works if you started to limit cancels, and pressure is the core of that game. I guess you could add harsher hitstun scaling? But that sounds lame.
Point is since I cant come up with a satisfactory way to theoretically address it I decided i wouldnt let it bother me since the combos are fun to do anyway lol
majority of us waiting on SF6 at this point
so until then why not enjoy some MK11 aftermath
If they let you buy it

I think when Pertho’s PS+ runs out, I’m going to keep playing 3S, but also try to lab Fei Long in ST. For the last few years, I’ve really wanted to get into ST but wasn’t a huge fan of any of the characters. I’ve finally consciously realized that while I like projectiles and DPs, I’m not a zoner. Fei Longs inputs always seemed hard for me, but I tried again on Saturday (and struggled), but then again on Sunday, and was getting more consistent with them… I keep forgetting how much easier some inputs become after a good night sleep.
Anyways, if anyone knows any decent Fei players, please let me know.
Also, after this week i’m going to fixup my laptop for NullDC MVC2 Netplay, and keep an eye out on for another 30A Steam sale.
… so yeah, i’m a CapCuck.
There’s a 3rd way, which is my preferred method: force the player to make mid-combo decisions on one of several combo routes. Either because a) screen positioning can greatly change what options you use, b) there’s meaningful strategic differences in what route to use, or c) there’s a combo breaker mechanic you might want to / have to play around.
Tekken 7 is a good example of a), as being on or off axis when you launch, as well as your distance from a wall, forces you to change combos on the fly for most characters. Xrd and KI are both good examples of both b) and c). I really like all three games.
I agree UNI probably couldn’t have worked in any other way though. It’s just not for me.
Bruh, same. I like chucking plasma, and most modern fighters don’t really make that viable.
Gimme Sagat. Gimme Tiger Shot.
KI has good plasma.
But as someone who has murdered too many people with O.Gat I’m not gonna tell anyone to not do that. Go play ST.
So let’s lab! I can use a training partner.
Plus fireballs are especially weak for Fei so that’s good training for me, but if I get in (especially if you’re cornered) then watch out, which should be good space control and defence (including AA) practice for you.
GBVS has good plasma.
he’s got an uppercut I can panic mash, so I’m good.
I gotta check out ST sagat, cause I can’t remember if it was HF or CE, but I remember playing it at a barcade recently and every single one of his jump kicks were exactly the same.
The 90’s were wild
I think a and b are things that naturally come up in most games, since you usually want the strongest post combo pressure/positioning you can get regardless of game. I cant think of a game shitty enough to not have either of those to some extent but I do agree with you that its fun to have to come up with the right choices between many mid combo
Tekken combos are really fun for a lot of reasons besides what I said and in addition to what you said. Because unlike 2d games where your poke/pressure buttons convert into combos you have to deliberately choose a launching move in tekken to get a combo, so it just feels validating to get a combo at all because it means you made the most rewarding read/punish you could. Locking some moves/damage behind an execution check (electrics, just frames) also feels really satisfying to do
fuck combo breakers though, its ok in gg but in KI its too much for me lol
Well, look up how to do the O. Sagat (or original Sagat) in the character Select screen. It reverts him to the version of SSF2 and it’s often viewed as top tier (sometimes ahead or behind Dhalsim, Claw, or Boxer). Note: this is excluding Akuma who is banned in basically every tournament because he’s too OP.

As a proud member of the church of bullshit, I was well aware of O. Sagat. He’s a patron saint
Arakune is the fairest character ever. He has to hit you before he starts his bullshit.

I call major bullshit on that.
People here talk about every other games every other day and I don’t see you raising in protest.
