2009 Evo is great, Canada Cup 2010 (first year of SSF4), was really good to watch Daigo counterpicking people.
2010 had Daigo sent to losers in a few tournaments by people. If you look up Daigo vs Marn SF4 and Twisted Jago vs Daigo SF4 both should pop up tournaments around that time frame.
2012 was the year Infiltration was fucking everybody and their mothers. But it was also the year that Kbrad vs Infiltration met a bunch of times in tournaments.
Jumping back years but Sanford vs Dan From Japan in 2009 was dope as hell too. That was the first Cammy showcase for her with divekicking nonsense. There’s a moment where he divekicks over a ryu cr.mk. Chef’s kiss when I saw that.

Its all dumb shit. WoTC is a dumb shit company fully of really dumbshit lefty people. One of the reasons I bounced was because they put it in the tournament guidelines that if you’re having a convo with a person and somebody overhears it and takes issue, they can go to a judge (basically an M:TG referee) and you can get a game loss/DQ. That’s so remarkably stupid that it was kinda the last straw on it all.
All that said, this is dumb shit of the biggest order. They’re banning cards that were made based on people drawing form historical events. Jihad wasn’t an issue until 2001, crusade wasn’t an issue either until that date. Basically some overly sensitive donkey found a way to nitpick old shit so they can try and look good for the audience. So now a bunch of stuff that nobody ever had issues with is magically banned.
The big problem with trying to do shit like this I already covered in the election thread. This shit is pandering in the worst way. WoTC “thinks” that they’re being woke or allies. But people aren’t complaining about how some card back in 94 made them feel weird. They’re complaining that Cops are always on some bullshit whenever they see somebody with their skin color. Those cards aren’t the reason why the US is on some bullshit.
Its basically doing a rerun of the 95 scare they had with super christian moms. For years WoTC removed all mention of demons and other things because wacky Christians kept saying that the game was made by satanists. Now the people that are going to potentially harp at them are the ones that should be focusing on actual serious shit. Instead its this. A toy company doing a “Mea Culpa” that basically undermines legitimate complains and by their actions makes serious people look like they’re asking for jokey bullshit.
Nobody wanted them to do this, they can fuck off instead of hogging up spotlight from actual issues.

This girl, who was white, a took a guy who was black to his car started blowing him, camera phones had become a thing by this point. Some dumbass decided to pull out their phone. She got pissed and said she was calling her dad, who was a cop. The whole party was shook. The poor dude she blew thought he was going to die. So her dad gets there, everyone is thinking we are fucked, and he just tells his daughter “Come on, lets go.” Didn’t shut the party down or anything. We went from thinking we were in deep shit to feeling bad for that girl’s dad. How many times did she have do something similar for him to react like that? Dude just seemed broken.

Well, I am reading the comments, and the artist for Invoke Prejudice, Harold McNeill, apparently is a well known neo-nazi. I don’t know if he intended to paint some KKK footsoldiers, but that image is not doing him any favors

McNeill is weird. I don’t know that calling him a Neo Nazi is exactly accurate. But he does articulate a lot of sympathy for a chunk of that stuff. When I was looking into him, he didn’t really express any views that would make him sympathize with the KKK. But his other work makes him veer to hard into this strange dark fantasy trope; he also hides swastikas in his artwork.
But that’s also why WoTC cut ties with him years ago. The only time his artwork came back was in a set that featured old cards coming back:
Its unfortunate because his M:TG art was great. His regular art is wacky. He drew a Hitler Christ thing. Either way his last commissioned art was in 96 with Mirage. Imagine a company finds out that one of their artists is selling art of HItler, stops commissioning them and them because of it and later they are forced to apologize for not having known he did Hitler art in the days before the internet.
Almost as stupid as having to apologize over making cards based on historical events.

Playing SG last night did remind me a lot of playing MVC2 which was nice. I didn’t quite get that from DBFZ or Power Rangers BFTG. I’m sure it’s different in a few ways, but playing you guys last night felt like I was playing MVC2 with friends, just with a different cast.
I may just play SG. I really don’t know what I’m doing. I’m definitely focussing more time on music these days, but still want a couple FGs to play with you guys.

out of curiosity, does magic design a card (like what it does) and then commission artists to come up with the artwork for it, and if so, do they have full creativity, or do they know they’re drawing a gigantic bat?
