Yeah that really is, I was just hoping capcom can bridge stuff in a narrative stand point.
I’m glad they gave us Falke for no other reason than she has the best theme in the game.

I heavily disagree with this, his design, his manersi and his name are weak as fuck if you know anything about Lucha Libre Mexicana, specially when you consider that he is suposedly inspired by el Santo.
I agree with the gameplay though, in that regard he is the continuation of capcom taking something that others have done better, in this case Ramon from KOF, and doing it worse.

Tbh, Cr. MK is actually good now. The hitbox finally extends to his foot and it’s -1.
It’s kinda hard to pinpoint what’s wrong with Ryu now, he got 3 years’ worth of buffs and he’s still mid at best.
I’d buff his mid-range buttons’ speed because they’re super stubby and playing footsies with him feels bad.
I’d need to give Ryu a spin again to remember in detail what’s wrong with him.

He’s decent but suffers from being a worse version of other similar shotos. Like Kage and Akuma are straight up buffed versions of him. Ryu was popular in S1 not only because he was strong but also because those other characters weren’t in the game yet.

I always figured he was based of Rey Mysterio jr, Juventud, or even Liger cause of his size, speed, and moves.
Always thought he was a shittier version of El Blaze.
Akuma is the prime example why Ryu will never grow as a character.
As Akuma is basically supposed to be a super shoto. Ryu will never get cool stuff because Akuma exists. I mean fuck lol they gave Ryu what ? 3 parries ? and none of them are even remotely as good as Akuma’s v-skill 1.

Yeah, it all boils down to “he doesn’t have that V-Juice”.
They did a decent enough job in 3S of differentiating them gameplay wise. In SF4 they were fine until they nerfed Ryu a bunch of times for shits and giggles.
Then in SF5 they did the same thing as in SF4.
