The Street Fighter 3poxy Strike: Everybody at home but SF5 doesn't have Netcode

Huh… I had to disabled UPnP (Universal Plug 'n Play) to connect to Steam. I thought UPnP was a good thing?

Anyways, wll start labbing now. @Dayaan wanna send me an invite at 4:15 est? (in 18 mins)

Got you. I’ll have one or two warmup games with you, and then we can spar for real. No doubt that won’t end well.

Also, I can’t do the discord chat thing. My wife is using the iPod which has discord

Understandable.

Inputs seem way easier on Steam. Wtf?

Either you have practice, or are playing optimally (fullscreen, V-Sync off on Windows 10). In any case, it’s less input delay than on consoles.

To me that’s still nowhere near enough. The mechanic is just absolutely trash.

Okay so, most of the defensive options I don’t mind at all in MK11. Most of them have solid design. Rolls are fine, Armored Wakeups have the usual risk to them, FBU2 I think is a proper way to handle parries for the most part and reward those who study gaps.

Breakaways though are absolute cancer. Now I’ve been vocal in the past about not liking Breaker Mechanics (outside of KI where it’s literally in the life blood of the game). I feel if you get hit, you deal with the punishment for getting hit. But at least in a majority of games, you still get “punished” for using a Breaker or Burst, generally a significant loss of some kind of resource. With MK11 though, you get outright rewarded for using Breakaways against a solid amount of the cast. If I’m on offense, I should not be punished for actually hitting you. So anyone who launches early in a combo essentially has to do no damage. It in turn, makes the other defensive options almost not worth using because the ability to punish someone for hitting you is far greater than protecting yourself from other options. Also, because the meter is self-regenerating no effort has to be put into cultivating it back up.

Giving every character an armor breaking move doesn’t salvage the mechanic. Either it makes the mechanic worthless (by giving every character a way to put them into natural combos) or it still requires the cast to dilute their offense for properly hitting the opponent. The funny thing is, MK11 isn’t like 9 or 10 where the damage on a touch is absurd. Most characters struggle to do 40% on optimal touches so why is a Breaker mechanic even needed in MK11? It’s just stupid, alongside other things done in the game (butchered variations) that really put me off of it which is a shame because I think there’s a lot the game does right and take MK in a proper direction.

Essentially they discreetly gave information to Magic Pro League competitors about the format of the next Pro Tours without telling the playerbase at large at the same time. In this case it’s a simple Arena Standard 2/3. Having that information ahead of time obviously is a massive advantage because that’s extra weeks the players can practice the format especially since they won’t give out VIP accounts so you actually have to own everything in there. So you would need a computer that actually can run properly with how shit Arena is, on top of an account you better have put a ton of time and/or money into so you can have the proper cards. For those who want to play the Pro Tour but didn’t play on Arena for whatever reason, imagine being told that you have 2 weeks to get everything together. You’d be fucked compared to the MPL who would have twice as much time. If you’re on a fresh account you’d have to pay money that would likely cost more than a Modern deck, for cards you won’t even own physically.

So someone in the MPL having some actual integrity was disgusted by this, and broke the NDA by telling Austin Burstavich about the PT changes. Austin then broadcast the info the general Magic community, feeling that everyone was deserving of that information as soon as possible. WOTC tried to strong arm him for his source and he refused to give up names. So they banned him from basically everything Magic related. Note that he himself was not under a NDA.

So basically, WOTC being scumbags as usual.

This is crazy how much easier inputs are. I’m still going to drop stuff to be sure, but it’s a huge difference.

I look forward to a better fight then! We’re gonna have good games. I hope I can learn from you.

Try disabling UPnP because apparently that’s a thing

It gets better.

During Shadowbringers release, he went mad cause Healers got ‘nerfed’ and Tanks got ‘nerfed’.
It turns out he couldn’t heal and no amount of skill and selfheals was going to safe me.

I could write a novel about all the shit he wrote to me over the years, but I will never forget that he was the better FG player and I only ever won because of cheap and broken characters.

Wtf is that!?

… I have a bad feeling about this tournament

Don’t worry, apparently Steam is having issues across a bunch of countries.

They’ll probably fix it soon, but guess them’s the breaks. I get to dodge an asswhooping today.

Edit:

Damn, I forgot to make the brackets. Did everyone even settle on a time?

I just played a long set against my long-time, multi-game training partner, both of us running characters we picked up over the last month or so. After the set he pointed out that I was mashing like an idiot in situations I shouldn’t, and that it probably was the worst Tekken he’s ever seen me play.

I don’t think he’s wrong in that assessment. It’s just that I absolutely destroyed him this set. And I did it largely by emulating his own extremely button-heavy, risky playstyle.

Dude’s salty AF right now.
