Yeah I miss them too man. Nintendo Power is what got me into RPGs. I got a free copy of Dragon Warrior (Quest) 1 with my subscription. Diehard Gamefan was a fav of mine and Next Generation had top tier print quality.
Actually, I very well could. Again, nothing is closed in Taiwan, my wife got a massage like 3 weeks ago.
as Obama explains in this video, Taiwan be flexin’ on corona.
explained few posts up.
I’m extremely polite so I’ll let you do that first, it would be a 1st time ever for you.
Be warned that the message itself will likely hurt, but if they don’t go full on “deep tissue”, it should feel better as you’re walking out of there, or a few hours later.
Let them know you have whiplash before they touch you though, and explain where it hurts and how.
You know, I really didn’t love SF2 as a kid. I definitely played it a lot, but MK was always the pick if it was an option.
I know I played MK in the arcades before it hit consoles but I can’t remember if I was also playing SF2 at the time.
Anyways, it’s funny. When I play them now, the original MKs are so clunky, but SF2 is still pretty smooth and feels a millions times better. Plus once you realize things like cross-ups exist, it’s a completely different game.
All that edgy violence and atmosphere messing up my senses…
But I play Kage and Akuma in SFV so I guess I haven’t learned much
Once the shock wore off MK1 got boring quickly. I remember my local arcade being packed with players on multiple SF2 machines. They migranted to MK for a few months and then went back to SF2.
Yeah, a lot of the MK games don’t really hold up. MK2 and UMK3 might be the best but then you sort of gotta appreciate the special type of jank they are.
I was thinking about how long i’ve been playing FGs for and how terrible I still am, and I think I posted this before, but I don’t think my experience helps…
Summary
First off, I barely played in the arcades. I always dropped inputs with a joystick and I could never get enough quarters because of how quick i’d run through them so I played FGs at home, and spent arcade money on other games.
90% of my playing was arcade modes in the various MK games, pretty much all the way up until MVC2.
In the MK games, I’d just spam jump kicks, sweeps, uppercuts, and projectiles (sound familiar?). Even when MK3 introduced combos, I never went up and did them in neutral. It was only ever after freezing/capturing the AI.
When I did play SFs, I pretty much always played Ryu and Ken, but still couldn’t do DPs regularly, and I never hit any buttons other than HPs or HKs… I don’t think I ever purposely tapped a light punch button until SFV to be perfectly honest.
MVC2 was the first game where I tried to dash in to do combos, and somewhat vary my offence, but it was Mash City. I had no idea what the magic series was or anything. I just mashed buttons against the AI (which I think started a lot of my bad mashing habits, and I played MVC2 (mostly against the AI) for years).
After the fun of beating the AI in MVC2 wore off, I took a break from videogames until I played SFV and hopped online - thinking my old MK sweeps and mashing would carry me as it always did.
I wish I manned up and tried to keep my quarters in the day. Things would probably be a bit different.
