The Street Calibur 5 Lounge: The Soul Burns But not as Hard as the FGC is Burning

I’ve said this before but SFV Seth is simply more visually distinctive than SFIV Seth and not just because he looks like a hot girl now.

Moveset wise, debatable of course (I prefer SFV Seth cuz he spins a lot) but as a design standpoint he’s Streets ahead of vanilla Seth. Imo. In my opinion. Plus I kinda vibe with the broken down, inferiority complex thing he’s going with

SFIV Seth was a very typical FG boss moveset-wise though. They just slapped together a bunch of the best moves from a bunch of characters and called it a day.

And I am having a blast with Tekken 7
Still want news. I need stuff to keep me busy at work.

I never knew they finished the short, thanks for the link.

It’s a shame what happened to the Mega Man franchise around 2010, when the games started getting cancelled during development.

I feel like Capcom could’ve done a lot more with some of their franchises, but I don’t really know what was going on at the company so I can’t judge.

“Stop trying to coin ‘streets ahead.’”

At least each of the stolen moves are given some sort of a twist

e.g. Guile fires Sonic Booms with two hands. Seth only needs one (and they fly faster)
Ryu’s Shoryuken hits once. Seth can repeat it three times one after another
Chunners straight up hits you with her Lightning Legs. Seth touches you once and then it’s like a hundred ghosts kick you all over
Zangief grabs your ass and slams your spine into the ground. Seth first punches you, then teleports above you, and THEN SPDs you into the ground (which looks cool as af)

So while his character design is rather lazy, I do appreciate these minor touches here and there

Worth pointing out that canonically the ability of throwing fireballs one handed means you’re a master and a stronger fighter.
Gouken throws one handed, Oni does too and Nash throws 1 handed sonic booms and he taught Guile how to throw a sonic boom but Guile still needs both hands.
So Seth throwing sonic booms not only one handed but backhanding them too is kind of a nice touch to convey his actual strength.

On that note SFV Seth doing the exact same animation as the person he takes the move from with VSkill might actually be done to show that this Seth is much weaker… Or Capcom just got lazy

With what sprites?

Pretty sure V Seth is weaker than 4 Seth, or at least less capable due to corrupted memory. Sethette needs physical contact to steal a move and can only do it once before “forgetting” it. Meanwhile original Seth just intuitively knew the moves of other fighters, and it most (every?) times it was superior to the original move.

I’d say this is definitely a good and intentional design choice.

Edit: replied to the wrong person

Although not wrong, it largely worked out for nfs since having cop chases and tuning cars aren’t mutually exclusive. Most latter day NFSes have both.

You’re nuts. It’s not even the same resolution.

They’d have to do them mostly from scratch, that’s just not really in the scope of the game’s budget.

I actually got more hope of Ragna showing up as a guest in Strive.

Yo, word? I haven’t played any NFS games besides the PS1 one and the GOAT NFS Underground 2.

That’s his point.

Now ask him where’s the rest of her cast.

Uhh in Arcana Heart?
Actually playable Parase in BBTag would be dope. Would even get me to play the game again.

Need me to get pics of tank, akatsuki, plus chick from that weird anime lol? They have already done sprites from scratch even after the initial rwby characters

Exactly. They had to pretty much remake that whole character just to fit one.

If, and let’s be real, it’s not happening, a GG char showed up in BBTag, it’d be Sol. ONLY Sol. Because they’d have to remake his sprites from the ground up.

I agree, but out of curiosity how do Kage and Dan fit in here? Also I think it’s interesting Akuma throws Zankuu’s with one hand but still throws the grounded ones with two hands.

Dan is obviously too powerful. :upside_down_face:
