Thatās the thing I donāt understand, how is a character so much harder to play and at the same time so much weaker in nearly every department.
King has godlike Oki too compared to AK.
Also for some reason AK ch B1 combos are horrid damage wise, pretty hard and force you to side switch basically.

na fam, Iāve learned the hard way that this is never a good idea. Well I get womping stomped by someone cause theyāre using the mechanics the way the game intended, thatās on me for skipping the tutorial.
People used to clown me at locals for never finishing the insanely long and time consuming Under night tutorial

AK is just badly tuned. His damage on some essential moves is weirdly low (d3, df1), his moves have little frame advantage to leverage offense even on hit, and King has been buffed so much (given a lot of AKs old moves too) over the course of T7s life that AKs advantages over King just dont matter. I didnāt play tekken very much before 7, but apparently the movement in 7 is also nerfed severely compared to older games, which hurts AKs more poke heavy/whiff punish style.

Shahenzan kinda nailed the answer about King vs AK. The main thing is that most of the cast is significantly stronger in T7 compared to Tag 2, while movement overall is worse (backdashes are shorter, steps are far less evasive). AK was put into T7 more or less unchaged from his (in that game, very strong) TTT2 iteration, and even with a few seriously unnecessary nerfs (SS2 in particular was a baffling change), and his main strength is punishing whiffs. Not only does the system make it harder for him to create those whiffs, but the rest of the cast has gotten beefier too, making his job even harder.
Heās not all bad, but heās one of the handful of characters in the game that I wouldnāt consider āgoodā. Heās just kinda meh, and unlike most of the other āmehā characters, heās extremely popular, so you canāt even get away with people not knowing the MU most of the time.
