One of my practice buddies, who’s notoriously good at figuring out new characters fast, had the following verdict on Setsuka: “I’m getting a Leroy vibe here”.
Dunno how accurate that is, but sounds like she’s good.

I’m hoping for Sodom or Psycho Gorilla, that’s about it.
Neither will happen, but whatever.
Everyone else I remotely care about is not going to translate well to SFV.
So here’s hoping they don’t release some hamfisted ideas and pull a USF4.

To my 09er friends, USF4 is like the god game.
SF4 was real good til the end when they put decapre and Elena in, then it was just a pain in the ass.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they went super broke on one of the characters.

What’s funny is that they seem to have a clear slam dunk in Makoto, even if she was to end up sucking the hype from her being announced would give capcom a good long period of hype. And yet she might really not be one of the 5.

Elena had hurtbox/hitbox problems, basically can’t hit her and she has a healing super.
Rolento dumb, Decapre dumb.
They added a new delay rise to mitigate knockdown setplay, but it hit characters with minimal setplay harder than it did the actual problem characters.
Basically it ended SF4 on a sour note for me and I was more than ready for sfv.

Some pretty bad ideas, like most of the stuff they implented just helped Top Tiers like Red Focus or even the delay wakeup.
Like E-Ryu would be less dangerous if it wasn’t for Red Focus.
And delay wakeup damaged everyones Vortex, but the ones of the Top Tiers.
And then you have Elena, who just abuses every bad side of SFIV to it’s fullest and is Top Tier, cause she really is good in abusing every single bad part of SFIV.

With SFV closing down i wonder when can we expect maybe a teaser of SF 6.
EVO 2021 ? Or Capcom prolly does not want to associate their image with that of EVO for future events.
If I’m not mistaken, SSF4 and AE2012 were the editions most people thought were the best… and even those two had issues, notably unblockables.
Nah, E.Ryu didn’t care much for red focus. It just made combos into ultra easier for beginners/intermediates, he rarely used it at high levels because he had more meter efficient options for similar damage.
Yun, however, got hella stronger from red focus. Similar damage to genei jin and stupid amounts of stun on top.
