The Street Calibur 5 Lounge: The Soul Burns But not as Hard as the FGC is Burning

@dayaan u still tryin to play stuff?

That’s the nitty gritty of her gameplan being different, not her gameplan itself. You’re largely forcing the same type of interactions in both games, though using different tools. She still has the best forward dash in IV allowing her to punish hesitation effectively, her normals are great counterpokes because of good hitboxes and active frames (and EX hayate buffers from everything), her mixups are still terrifying, and while she can’t link into SA1 from everything, her combo game without it either does good damage and gives her a free dash-under mixup, or really good damage in the corner. SA1 can also be comboed into from command grab, so that’s a bomb you can threaten people with. The neutral is played with slightly different tools and the situations where she mixes you up when she’s in are different, somewhat unsurprisingly considering how different 3S and IV are, but her overall plan is largely the same.

ā€œVery differentā€ would be someone like Ryu in 3S and IV imo, where there’s fairly little overlap in gameplan.

Also, unrelated, but some of the old heads here are playing 3S and ST again on 30th. Holy crap I’m rusty at both games, and trying to play them on Hitbox didn’t make stuff better. Gotta practice up.

Bruh how is a mobile game gonna have the sickest super saiyan theme?

Capcom doesn’t count North Africa with Europe like it does with the Middle East?

Sounds dumb. Tunis is way closer to Europe than Dubai, and yet it gets excluded?

I was toying with the video editor on the PS4 to see what i could do.
Surprisingly it has enough tools that at least lets you do some basic editing.

I had no idea Omega Mode had no 1f links.

It’s a 1f link into a super.

Though I guess it’s easier if you know how to piano it.

And regarding the differences between IV and 3S Makoto, I’m pretty sure Fukiage has some quick movement depending on button strength in IV. That kinda caught me off-guard in 3S because I really wanted that option to try and AA those damn Akuma Air Fireballs.

I wonder what would happen if you buffed characters to have similar versatility and strength to their older games’ counterparts. SFV characters feel a bit neutered.

I actually think SFV does well in that regard for the most part.

No overly absurd motions, relatively simple general mechanics, and Target Combos also work as basic starter combos. (This is blatant with Ryu and Ken)

I wish they expanded on the TC idea a bit, displayed a couple link-based combos on the movelist as samples, showed the max frame advantage you got on your last move without immediately counting down like it does now and showed the freaking startup of moves because seriously, showing frame advantage without showing the startup of your moves is just silly.

Yes.

Beginners will usually at least want to know their specials and how to do them, which is why garbage like Delta and Gamma Ray inputs gotta get nuked and DP motions get purged from games aimed at newer players.

This is also why auto-combos are so prevalent nowadays and why I said I’d like sample combos in movelists and an expansion of TCs. Fuck auto-crutches.

Note that I’m not talking about the scrubs that expect to hop in and be the new Daigo just for booting the game, I’m talking about the new blood that despite not playing a FG before, will stick around. This is why I don’t like Auto-Combos. They don’t really do anything positive long-term.

Ah yes, the Kekken problem.

To all devs out there, if you make movement complicated for kicks, your game is shit.

Omega mode was basically a test bed for SFV. A lot things from Omega mode are reflected in SFV.

I know, but I didn’t know that 1f links had been axed that early in development.

Same, by the time omega mode rolled in, it had been years that i touched sf4 already :joy::sweat_smile:

Maybe i should toy with it a little to see what did i miss.
