Hey, you’re already sounding like me! Get you hooked to some Ken VODs and we’ll be twins in no time! Send a challenge on the new FC, I’ll be waiting.
Also, I’ll be in VC.

Here’s how fucking horrible V-Triggers are. If ALL they did was let you cancel an unsafe move into plus frames with no other advantages, they’d still be really good just because of how SFV is designed. The game is so heavily built around looping your pressure, getting into guessing situations and landing you in the corner. Forcing a + frames situation where it wasn’t previously possible is all it can take to swing a round.
But they ALSO make you into an unga version of your character on top of that. I will never get over how fucking horrible this mechanic is. There are times when I’m enjoying the game and then someone VTC’s a sweep on block into guess loop for the round and I just get an awful taste in my mouth, or I do it and I get a round I had no business winning and I just have to take it because that’s SFV.
Ultras were seriously nothing compared to V-Triggers and I remember how much flack Ultras got.
The thing I liked about ultra’s is they just sort of complimented a characters’ game, whereas in V some characters are completely defined by their trigger.
I read the rest of your post, and I get where you’re coming from, but what good fighting games have you played that don’t involve this?
Divekick, Lethal League, FOOTSIES. Not necessarily my favorite fighting games but mentioning them just because they don’t have those aspects almost at all.
I still remember how awesome it felt to land Hugo’s U2 on a hard read after dashing in.
Most of them were just damage dumps, there’s no complimenting much with those. I’d put Ultras beneath VTs because those didn’t even take a shred of creativity for the most part.
The problem with VTs is less “they turn your character into an unga version” and more “these characters were designed to be bad until VT”.
A lot of characters in this game are designed to pop VT, and that’s the worst design decision you can have.
So instead of VTs being mild powerups to break stalemates and try a comeback push like Ryu and Ken VT1’s, you got shit like Gorilla and Urine’s Ayyyyyygis.
Pair that up with a game where most characters are severely gimped compared to previous iterations… and you got the marvel that is SFV.
It’s a cavalcade of fuckups. I gotta admit tho, those rare games when you don’t get characters going apeshit and the netcode kind of works are magical.
Bro went to the bottom of the indie barrel to get these.
I was just making a point using the most extreme examples I could think of, I don’t even play them but just demonstrating how all FG’s exist somewhere on the unga scale.
Nah, plenty of characters had anti-zoning ultra’s, command grabs, installs, rose had orbs, elena had healing, etc. Ultra’s were just as unique as v-triggers just way less threatening.
Hold on, yes all fighting games revolve around these interactions, the difference lays in how good the options you have on offense are and how good the options you have on defense are.
In SFV the attacker has many good options (you know, unless you play bad characters) and the defender has basically no options.
1st batch of the set
I hate to reopen old wounds… but:

Yeap! That’s me! As long as you see a hot girl in the display pic that’ll be me!
@Hecatom Yes! Hot Girl = Me! Lol
I was assuming with a girl nickname + a hot girl as display pic, people will go easy on me in Ranked but no. I get my ass kicked even harder!
Whoops sorry only saw your message today!
I don’t play on Friday nights.
Monday/Wed/Fri/Sunday nights are reserved for piano practice. Unless I’m out with friends then fuck the piano lol.
Tues/Thurs/Sat nights are when I indulge myself in games. And Sunday afternoons-evenings! So let me know if you wanna get some Tekken or SF 5 in on Sunday!
I’ll be out with my friends for dinner and drinks after work today so I won’t be in! I’ll promise I’ll practice some UNIST this Sunday!
Dw I still played Tekken up until 4.30a.m.
Quick question, do you log on steam always if you’re on, or do you need to be summoned?
I’ll need summoning lol.
Cuz I usually don’t go to the pc unless I’m playing shooters like Rainbow Six Siege or Modern Warfare.
I mostly game on my PS4. Comfy couch plus 65 inch Oled TV >> my shitty dell monitor and shitty computer chair that makes my butt hurt. Lol.
I’ll try to check in this thread more often!! It was polling day in Singapore yesterday so almost every Singaporeans were up till 4am to watch the results, that’s why I didn’t check in at all. Lol.
Because without all the different interactions FGs aren’t entertaining.
Only Neutral is boring as hell, there need to be things that spice neutral up and getting rewarded for winning Neutral with Oki and Pressure gives a good feeling.
Now the Neutral in SFV is absolute ass and the interactions between Attacker and Defender are just this.
There is a huge lack of possible player interactions and offence feels super dumb, despite being absolute basic shit, because of the lack of defence tools.
Now the entire game was designed to be like this and begging from the Community only produced more Chun Costumes. Meaning Capcom themself are fine with how the game works and plays.
I would suggest you just leave SFV behind if you’re not happy with it and play something else.
It’s not like there aren’t many options to pick from.
Played SFV today. Chun is cool! Grounded game is also fun! I give today’s experience a 8/10. Still not a fan of Triggers and Skills.
Everytime I hear someone say SF is oh so grounded and I watch some matches, people always jump around like death seeking rabbits.
Well can’t blame them, I would too if my opponents AA would be asschecks.
