Does anybody know what size buttons KoF cabinets are using these days? I checked out this image, they look like 24mm buttons. Just want to know for sure, though.
Heres a TK5 Template i got from “Fallback” - http://www.mediafire.com/?2nnr9lxsniy
(Tekken 5 Anniversary Hori)
Should still be 30mm buttons. I don’t think the drawing is to scale.
I’ve taken the Blast and Astro layouts that have been floating around here, and added a grid with measurements to each one. The measurements were included on the Astro, but I had to measure the Blast myself. I don’t know how most builders go about ensuring correct layout when building a control panel, but I figure it’s easiest to just draw out the entire grid onto it and then drill the mounting holes at the correct points.

Most other Japanese layout thats I’ve encountered on the internet seems to use measurements that match the Astro. The Virtua Stick High Grade uses the Astro layout, so the Sega Lindbergh cab probably does too. The HRAP2 and HRAP3 use it as well. Many console sticks use the Astro layout with the only alteration being the position of the stick relative to the buttons (example: it’s lower or the Hori EX2). I haven’t found a single console stick that uses the Blast.
The two layouts are extremely similar; the differences are existent but miniscule.
I’m beginning to strongly suspect that our “Blast City layout” is actually the result of either someone’s poor measuring or someone’s poor drawing, and that the Blast City arcade cabinet really does just use the same layout as the Astro. It would be interesting to see what the the New Astro or Versus cabs use.
Great job dudes… This is like the custom arcade stick builder’s paradise, but can I ask you a favor? Please don’t use MegaUpload, or if someone can, please upload all these to one single .rar file at rapidshare or something like that - just don’t use megaupload. I’ll appreciate it soo much!!!
Anyone have a Virtua fighter 5 stick template?
how about some cabinet blue prints:sweat:
You can put mine up if you like, it’s a hybrid between American and Japanese layouts which confirms perfectly to quite a few hand sizes.

NINJA EDIT: whoops i thought it was a cabinet blueprint
This thread is great. I think every arcade should have this list hanging somewhere in the back because I have seen some fugly/messed up layouts. Saw a guilty gear cab where dust was right next to punch. Not terrible, but definitely wonky.
The measurements were taken straight from the MK3 cabinet manual. This IS the cab.
I think it’s preference since most games aren’t going to use more than six buttons max.
Thanks, that’s what I thought. My first reaction is that it’s a waste to not use two buttons, but then I think to myself, "Self, what would you even use them for?" Now I need to figure out how much curve I want in the buttons. Do I want the 3rd pair to be slightly lower than the 2nd like in the Blast City layout, or to be even? I’ll have to print out a few templates and see what feels right.
Someone should change the 1st post where it says new snk games are
abe
cd
Since I found out that it’s
ACE
BD
It’s the same buttons as in lk and lp but the switch of b and c may confuse some people when reading strats.
^ ^ ^ Good call, dude. This was because of my mistake on page 2. I fixed my post now and eventually shoo will notice and clean up his!
Does anyone have a photoshop template for the HRAP2? This noob wants to add some custom artwork.
any help would be appreciated thanks!
If you can’t find a template, just measure the dimensions of the top plate, print your art on an adhesive backed material that is about the same dimensions of the plate, take an x-acto knife, and then use your top plate as a stencil.
is there an x arcade template?

This thread is a diamond mine.
Some dude in a French forum posted this stuff seven months ago and we’re getting it NOW? Big thanks to Per for showing us this!
Arcana Heart
I think S is for Special but the some players call it D instead.

Arcana Heart 2
Supposedly T is for Throw, but maybe it’s just a “Quick Action” like in Melty Blood.
