The Statue Thread

I remember I almost bought a Sephiroth but it was like 200 dollars or some ridiculous amount. That’s too much money for me to spend on something that does nothing but stare at me all day long. It was a while ago. Did that statue ever come down in price?

Anyone?

Can’t say I order that many statues online myself and even then I usually deal with Play-Asia.

I myself have never heard of that company, I have bought statues from:

www.wizarduniverse.com
www.bbts.com
www.entertainmentearth.com

shipping varies on the size/weight of the statue and what service they use, usually UPS, Usually a down payment of half is needed on the pre-orders that I have done, or they charge full price but dont charge me until it has shipped.

EDIT: Just was looking over that site, they got some good shit on it, I think I will use them in the future at some point

Hey check this bad boy out:

My wife ordered this for me, you think i should cancel & try to get it cheaper later on or do you guys think this will be hard to get in the future for this price?

Usually when pre-order sells out, they are a bitch to try to find outside of EBAY and usually going for a higher cost, I dont know if Zangief would fall into that catergory though :wonder:

I like statues, just got into them recently, but they are just so pricey!!

So far I have 4 and two of them were gifts. The ones given to me were; some Chun Li looking chick called Non-Non, who’s standing on one foot while holding a buster sword and an interesting Rei Ayanami that looks about 10 years older. Both are made by Yamato. I went ahead and bought 2 more sometime after that and I recently placed an order for a Cammy that came out not too long ago. They’re pretty sweet!

Rcaido,

That Zangief is bad ass dude… Side Show made a bunch of SF statues already but they are wayyy too much for me to justify buying right now. One thing I do know though, is they are way limited, so needless to say, jump on it now. They released an Akuma statue about a year ago I think and those people who pre-ordered got it for under 300 bucks. However, it did not go down in price it went up. The ones who procrastinated have to spend way more now.

Here’s an example:

So my answer to your question is stick to it, you might regret it later on.

LOL I tried to Pre-Order that Shin Akuma statue when it was 250 but people signed on for it so fast I was put on the waiting list. I naturally thought that someone would drop out but it seems like no one did. I just had to let that one go. 250 is way too pricey for me.

Recently I picked up the Devil May Cry statues from Kotobukiya for Dante (DMC3), Vergil (DMC3) and Nero (DMC4). Those went for about 80 a piece so that’s more in my price range, since I picked up like one every few months from a Japanese bookstore by me.

fuck 2100.00 for that is nuts, I think people see “errors” and jack up the price, while most people dont care about the so called errors.

Just pre-ordered this:

Wish they could have done the Infinity Gauntlet right, instead of canceling it :sad::sad:

I guess i’ll keep the Zangief statue preorder…Im in noway ever going to resell it, its just for me cuz i love gief so much.

Have you guys ever order model kits? I was thinking of buying one & paint it myself but have no experience. How hard is it & where do you buy the paint?

Cant help with that, never done them, I sure any standard hobby store would have the correct paint.

I painted a Street Fighter II V Ryu statue long ago. Mainly because this is about the ONLY figure I could find based on that series.

Wasn’t hard since I only needed white for his gi, a fleshy orange for his skin and black for his hair, eyebrows and eyeballs. This Ryu had no red headband and not even that brown beaded wrist band he had in the anime.

Sadly the statue fell over after about a year and one of his arms broke off. They arms normally come off so you can paint them but one of them broke good. I still have it in a box somewhere but never got around to krazy gluing his arm back. I guess I’m still worried that I have no real way to stand him up that will guarantee that he won’t fall over. I could lean his back against the wall of one of my shelves but I have actual toys leaning there because they can’t stand up for jack.

PS anyone who still makes statues or toys that do not come with stands needs to go die in a fire. :annoy:

I do paint actual drawings so it may have been easier for me to paint the figure. Still if you get the right brushes like, something really small like a zero round tip brush or lower than the little details are easy. Bigger brushers for bigger stuff of course. The big details are even easier but you just have to be careful with colors dripping on top of others. Of course paint can go over paint so you can keep adjusting until you get it right.

I don’t think I’d have the patience to start painting a multi-colored Gundam model or anything that complicated.

You usually can find models already painted either by the distributer or some stores paint them already. Some stores will do it for you if you pay them to.

Though I myself find that when stores themselves paint figures, there are times I think they are… stupid? Once I saw a Street Fighter II Chun-Li statue store painted. Chun-Li was kicking high and every color was just right. Except her legs were not painted brown to show that she was wearing pantyhose, they were colored the same as her skin tone - her face. So her legs had a fleshy color instead of their regular brown color. I mean either the painter did not play enough SF2 to have her colors branded onto his brain, didn’t look at a stinking picture, ran out of / went cheap on the paint or thought this was extra perverted somehow, but it wasn’t really to me… And they were charging 300 dollars for this hack job…

Thanks for the info guys…Also, will it look weird if i paint my sota street fighter figures? I have a bunch variants & would like the OG colors to them. Are these paint different then what you use on resin/polystone statues?

I just started collecting statues but all of them are just Fist of the North Star. I wanted to pick up some Berserk but are way to expensive.

Im thinking of starting on Marvel stuff…Wish they had more reasonable price Street fighter statues i mean cant believe im spending $400 on Zangief. Wonder why he is more expensive then the other statues…

My guess is Zangief is more expensive because he is larger and wider then the rest of the Street Fighters. I know most of the statues I buy are roughly $180.00, but if one like the Juggernaut/Thanos/Hulk Buster Iron Man comes out its usually $250.00 + since there is more “material” in the bulky frame.

Can you guys post your statue collections…Would like to see where you put them at.

Since im new to collecting statues, is there anything i need to know about. Things to avoid?

i think i want to save up money for this bad boy (not the x-23)
