So, everyone who ranked up, I’ll keep your ranks moving forward. Last night was kind of a “beta” but I think I worked out all the kinks. I’ll be resetting everyones actual score next time we meet though. I found a better way of keeping track of things.
I’ll run the Danisen stations during casuals before the tournaments, so this will be your time to rank up your character. Once the tournament starts, no more ranking matches, but your current rank, if you’re registered, will be displayed on the stream during the tournament. If you’re not registered in the league I’ll just post “Not Ranked”.
For the Kyu’s, it takes +3 to rank up, and -3 to be demoted. So, lets say you win two but lose one. You’ll be at +1, so you’ll need two more wins to rank up. Another example, lets say you won one, but lost two, you’ll be at -1. If you won one, lost one, you’re at 0 – or no progress in rank.
So the way it works, is I’ll have what +/- you are at stored in an excel sheet. Once you step up to the plate I’ll let you know where you currently stand and/or if it’s a ranking or demotion match for you. So lets say you hop on, and you’re at +2, if you win the next match you rank up. If you’re at -2 and you lose you are demoted. I’ll keep track of all this so dont worry about it too much but be sure to ask me if you’re curious as to how far you are from a promotion.
Once we get into the Dans it works a little different, you’ll need +5 to rank up but it’s still -3 for a demotion. So if you win four but lose one, you’re at +3 and still need two more consecutive wins to reach the next rank.
Also, keep in mind if you’re demoted your score gets reset to 0. So lets say you’re in 9th Kyu at -2, you lose your next one and demoted. You’re now at 10th Kyu and your score is zero – you need three consecutive wins to get back into 9th Kyu.
Also, if you’re in 10th Kyu, you cant go below -3. There is no demotion beyond 10th Kyu. So if you keep losing, you just stay at -3 until you start winning.
Keep in mind the +/- will be displayed on the stream as well during the Danisen League so people watching cna get an idea how far away you are from a promotion/demotion.
Again, this will take place during casuals before tournaments, so if you’re serious about ranking up, be sure to hit up the stream station.
edit: TL;DR – register a character before the tournament, play on the stream (or another danisen station once we get there), I’ll keep track of your score and let you know where you stand.
How does a player initiate a ranking battle? Say I wanted to play Frankie, so I just go up to Frankie and say, “Yo, Frankie, let’s have a ranking battle on the stream.” And, assuming he agrees, does that mean we just go up and play? That brings up a good point. What are the ramifications of challenging myself to a ranking battle?
You can play versus anyone who is within 3 ranks of yourself. So lets say you’re at 9th Kyu and want to play Crizzle who at the time happens to be like 3rd Kyu or something. you cant play him because you two arent close enough in raking. Lets say you’re at 9th Kyu and Frankie is at 8th Kyu, you two can play.
Once the rankings become a bit more solidified we’ll probably start running two stations, one for higher ranks and one for lower.
The best way is to call him out on the stream when he is not there. HE will know about it =P
…and then Whiff Dive Kick SPD you on stream three times in a row for it.
If I can’t make it on Wednesday’s due to homework/classes, I usually watch the stream while I’m working anyway, so this is how I caught your (possible) semi-drunken shit talk Roger.

Is there anyway we can get that danisen spreadsheet posted online like on google or somewhere? I think it be pretty sweet to reference anytime.
Yeah I am going to do that for sure, Im just trying to think of the best way to display it week by week.
Google Spreadsheet could work for that; just make it read-only. It has an offline mode as well (I think you have to install Gears), if you need to tweak it on the go.

This Tuesday starbase is under attack. I’ve just gotten good Intel that starbase is the next target of the Covenant. We need to stop them at Reach before they hit starbase. I have 2 setups and 2 copies of reach need 2 more setups and about 10 controllers so leave a post here if you want to come defend starbase from the covenant. I will have my setups going all day and wont exspect anyone to show up till after 6pm and i plan to at least play till closing or later. Just leave a post here in the thread stating your coming if i dont get enough people harrison wont show up and playing halo is much more fun when your drunk!!!
