Yo guys. So I heard through the grapevine that NorthBay did well in the Battle of the Gays or something. Congrats!
Battle of the Bay and yeah we did awesome.
The Starbase Danisen League will start this Wednesday – if VDon is cool with it of course. 
Arthur was kind enough to spend some time develop the preliminary ranking system that we will use for this.
What is the Danisen League?
This is a ranking system that is used primarily in Japanese arcades for Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Players will register a character and gain points based on wins. After a certain number of wins, said character will level up and gain a new rank.
How will it work at Starbase?
Going into this, you will register a character with me. The character data will be stored in an excel sheet which will keep track of wins, losses and current rank. To keep things simple, all ranked matches must be played on the stream station. Current rank will be displayed next to your name on the stream.
How to Register
There are two ways to register a character. One: Post in this thread which character you would like to register. Two: Find me at Starbase and tell me which character you would like to register. There are no limits on how many characters you can register.
Feedback from Players
I would like some feedback from players mainly on the format. For one, should 2/3 count as 1 point or should each win simply be added to your score? Should all matches be 2/3 or just a single game?
Any other thoughts on this format or the system itself, please post up and let me know before Wednesday. you can start registering your characters now.

PS - Yeah I approve although it’s not so much me approving as much as it’s the group approving that’s important.
PPS - You should appoint “refs” so that they can witness a ranked match on more than just the stream setup. If this takes off, the stream won’t be able to handle everyone wanting to level up their rank.

Wow, a ranking system sounds really cool. I was going to say I hope this works out well, but I’m sure it will!
A few thoughts on how this will work in relation with tournaments, if we happen to run on the same night.
Tournament will go on as usual, if you play your registered character your ranking will be displayed next to your name on the stream as always. The wins and losses wont count towards your character unless you are playing versus another player with a registered character and they both agree that it be a ranking match.
Arthur also mentioned that tournament standings could be used to boost your character ranking.

1st. 8 pts
2nd. 5 pts
3rd. 3 pts
My perosnal opinion is for the first week or so we just run the Danisen League and not worry too much about tournaments until we work out all the kinks of running the actual league.

Yeah, guys, throw out ideas for rank names. For the lower ranks so far ive got: scrub, free, on blast, on notice, stream monster, pot monster
Higher ranks: elite, godlike, grandmaster, mid-boss, final boss, secret boss etc etc… in no particular order.
