The ST match vids + discussion thread

Am I the only one who gets
"**This video is private. **

Sorry about that."?

It’s probably a video from alabamaman. He has a TON of good boxer footage, but the jerk always sets it to private for whatever reason.

its a video of futachan vs tsuji, in here futachan really abused air tatsus on rog’s wake up, but in new videos, tsuji would make the ryus eat a super

It´s pretty cool to see Tsuji wrecking stuff, and then Mattsun comes and says “hell naw nigga”

Mattsun doesn’t care about matchups. All he’s concerned about is making you guess “low, knee bash, or uppercut?” and usually he wins.

*pd : when i grow up i want dat hair.

That mnemosyne32 dude just uploaded a TON of footage of x-mania stuff on his YT channel.

God i saw that dvd a long time ago, matches are BRUTAL, specially the exhibitions. Gian, Tsuji, Otochun, Aniken, Muteki, Kurahashi etc… the cream of the cream of top ST players in one place.

I urge everyone to see the tournament and exhibitions (Psychorarity has them in his channel too). Gian got randomed in the tournament, imo :frowning: (But watching him outplay Daigo in the exhibitions made it worthwhile). Also Tamashima was on fire that day, and Aniken vs Yaya is one HELL of a psychic DP battle.

Is it too early to call Hanashi the best Fei?

Yes, due to Okafei. Some other Fei who was in a Danisen video with him seemed to be just as good, too.

Yeah, but to me he seems to be more consistent than any other Fei, and does very well even in the hardest matchups against elite players (here demolishing Kurahashi Guile and YuuVega Deejay, and he handles Boxers really well - I think he came up with that option select corner throw loop against Boxer). Okafei is great for sure, but I haven’t seen him in individual tournaments / ranbats.

I think it’s safe to say that Hanashi has the best fei today. The danisen is a pretty good indicator of one’s level (contrary to regular tournies), knowing that he’s in the same rank as guys like Kurahashi, Shiki, Numa, Sashishi or Nuki pretty much speaks for itself. I even think he surpassed Noguchi’s Fei, his style is much more polished and he’s more consistent.

And you know standing in front of a Japanese cab, his inputs are 100% legit. Unlike plenty of Feis I’ve seen over the years who go from chicken, to jab, to fists over GGPO or Kaillera seemingly at will :rolleyes:

It seems he only has the samples from X-Mania Gaiden, not the tournament or exhibitions.

Produced by the famous** **INH team, and with players handpicked by Umehara Daigo himself, X-Mania Gaiden was a 2005 tournament made to celebrate the 10 years of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, the 15 years of Street Fighter, and to introduce Anniversary Edition to new players.

The result was more than just a tournament, it was the Insanity: Starting Over Hyper Street Fighter 2 package, that contained not only the tournament (wich i present to you), but also tons of exhibition matches, a OST and AST music CD, and a reissue of the Yoga Book Hyper, a truly historic document on the SF2 series, with at the time, the most complete and comprehensive info on the series.

Rumor says that Shinya “Nuki” Ohnuki, refused the invitational only tournament, because he didnt think of himself as one of the true OG ST players, and that only those deemed as the “best” were worthy of playing.

One of my favourite matches, before i give you the keys of one of the best tournaments of one of the best games of all time, has to be Yaya vs Aniken, a true demostration of patience, zoning, and… BALLS:

Enjoy what i consider the finest tournament ever of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo:

Kanto has more players, so they have more ranks. One can not compare players from different regions based on danisen ranks. Tsuji’s visit to Tokyo made it very clear.

I don’t think it is an option select. My impression is he uses perfect timing and distance to bait and punish counter throws by either

[]staying just out of range;
[
]entering an invulnerable move;
[*]becoming airborne with a jump or RH hop kick.

And he probably has that perfect tick-throw timing many Japanese players seem to have.
