The ST match vids + discussion thread

Jab xx jab hands is pretty damn easy though. It feels like I only need to input it 4 times before it comes out. I’ve tried whiffing a strong and mashing on fierce, but it never consistently pumps out fierce hands. I wonder if there’s a variety of techniques to get it to come out? Or is it all just fast double taps on fierce?

Once you practice enough, you get the muscle memory down just like everything else. On some buttons I find it much harder to do fierce hands, but only takes a moment to adjust. i do it like blast beats in drumming, i let gravity do most of the work on my ring finger and it comes out.

It is not double taps, it is like a piano. I had written some stuff about it here years ago. I should make a video, but it looks like I always find something to do other than buying a camera.

Well I double tap using this method. This style of pressing the same button, finger side by side, alternating fingers. I took piano as a kid, this technique felt very much at home. That being said, I think it’s just a matter of improving on speed.

Wow, that was one of the best Ryu mirrors I’ve seen in a while. Thanks for posting it. 2 of the current best Ryu players going at it, Kurahashi vs Sasori, 'nuff said.

For faster mash attacks I mask them with something else. For example, for hands I do for example LP+HP, keep tapping HP. That way you are starting to tap HP as soon as you input LP, but LP comes out due to input priority. For whiffs if jab is too hard you can use standing/crouching MP.

I’ve seen Keishin do crossup MK, close MP, walk forward LK xx Lighting legs which I thought was extremely hard until I figured out you can just do it as crossup MK, MP+MK, walk forward LK+MK, tap MK. Something similar goes for LPx2, cr.LP xx Lighting legs (LP+K x2, cr.LP+K, tap K).

Abebin just masks his HP taps with something else. He taps when he jumps (ie. keep mashing HP after a neutral jumping HP), during f+HK’s lenghty recovery, coming out of blockstun / hitstun, after a blocked headbutt, etc, and most likely what I mentioned above (mainly during combos / strings). It’s not that hard on a stick or even a keyboard, probably not viable on pad. Hope this helps.

with honda fierce hands, i like using low short for this, works great

I didn’t know about the button priority thing. Good to know. Thanks guys. So light buttons have priority over heavier buttons? What about punches and kicks?

The priority is Jab, Strong, Fierce, Short, Forward, Roundhouse. Jab being the highest.

This is going to sound like a long shot, but anyone remember a video with Dictator at the end of a match the player did a devil reverse at farthest distance to fool his opponent into thinking was a normal jump at long distance, then after landing the devil reverse he pulled the super at close range and ended that awesome match.

All I know is the match was 2-3 years old and took place in cammy’s stage. I forgot the player’s name. It’d be awesome to find this video match again.

I’ve seen the match you’re describing. I’m not sure which video it is, but I’m pretty sure it was Taira that did this.

Thank you so much! I found that Taira vid

I will treat you for some drinks on next level when I go again. I will leave a note on the counter written “eltrouble drinks”

Thanks for finding the video, I’m sure you had to scroll through a lot of videos before you got to it.

I appreciate the drinks, but you’ll have to wait til Evo to give it to me. Since I’m located in socal, it probably would’ve be smart to fly all the way to NY just to get a free drink, lol.

These are on HDR Classic mode but they’re still some good matches of DGV beating up on me and a Japanese Bison player. Entire set is set up on a playlist on the right on the main page for easier viewing.

Here’s the playlist of a recent tournament that we had over at Super Arcade during WNF. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get the last few matches of the night.

anyone knows the song?

So I’ve been playing YuuVega pretty regularly for a while now. Here are a few good games someone managed to record recently.

Also, YuuVega is one of the nicest guys. He has helped my game tremendously since he plays DeeJay, too.

What are you stopping by doing MGU when you recover during the second video? He eats it each time…

The first time I stuffed his standing short and the second time after I blocked his scissor kick, I stuffed his throw attempt which would be a standing strong or standing fierce. I pretty much use it in situations I think bison would tick throw and its safe on block so you should do it every time.

Dear YuuVega,

Please stop feeding Afro-Legends Street Fighter steroids… He was already scary enough as it was.

With Regards,
