Another thing already answered before u did:
These are actually HF videos, but I don’t think you guys would mind watching Watson in action in OG SF.

Nice vids, he should play more often

Incredible set in HSF2(sorry) with me and paskis. Hes too solid. BTW nice Hyper Fighting vids. Wats is on something else lol. Too sick.
Whats the deal with the standing short to low short kicks on wake-up? Is it hard to reverse DP them? Seems like Watts is abusing them for free.
Not entirely sure. I believe he primarily did that to shotosallday. Which is quite odd, considering that shotosallday is pretty consistent with landing reversal uppercuts.
As far as I can tell, Watson uses it as a sort of hit-confirm. If it lands, he goes into a combo. i.e. st.short, cr.short, tatsu. Or a cps1 chain, like cr.short x2, st.fierce, fireball. That and it trains their opponent to just block, which makes it easier to go for the throw. Also those cr.shorts seem to be the way to stun the opponent. After a cross-up roundhouse, he just does cr.short chains, and it usually stuns Sagat every time.
He’s usually too busy to play, but on a slow night, he’ll come out and play a few games with decent opponents. I try and record his footage as much as possible, since I think we can learn a lot about how to approach the game by watching the OGs play it. I managed to get all of the footage from his matches that night, except for a short clip where he played Zangief, but the file was corrupt.
I think in hyper, it is actually pretty hard to reversal a wake up. plus the risk to reward is worth it. if they wake up and reversal dp, wats will get knocked down, lose some life. not that big a deal. if the guy waking up doesn’t reverse and eats the short, it leads to short hp into fireball for dizzy. or they could also do short short short stand straight hp for a 4 hit dizzy combo too.
Really? I figure it would be easier to reversal, since the speed of the game is slower. Not to mention that shotos reliably proved that he could reversal on wake-up. He did a wake up tatsu reversal to go over my meaty sonic booms, and whenever I went for meaty cr.forward combos, he would reversal. Maybe he just played more conservatively against watts? Not sure, I guess we’ll need to play more HF to test it out. But you’re right on the risk v. reward thing.
I actually really enjoyed playing HF, and I prefer it over ST tbh.
Watts is def a beast in hf. I was playing 2p most of the night and against watts used 1p. The joystick is diff and that might have thrown me off a little. I def went for the reversal dp and it didn’t come out lol…
As far as the speed, I think hf is actually almost as fast as st. What we played was actually hf on ce speed. I think hf on the real speed setting would be even more fun. Hf>st IMO.
That would explain why you blocked his close st.shorts so often, lol.
I think ST was designed to be as fast as HF. I think so many people complained about Super SF2 being so slow, that they brought it back up to HF speeds when they made ST. Unfortunately, I think there’s some problems with changing the speed setting on that HF machine.

you can’t adjust HF speed. what happens is everyone who plays it in an arcade cab thinks its too slow compared to what they are used to at home cause HF ports and emulated is WAAAAAY faster then the arcade board.

Sagat truly is the king.
As far as I know, everyone from the OGs to the new players feel that HF on the Super Arcade cab is slower than normal. It feels CE slow. I’m aware that the emulated versions run at stupidly fast speeds, however, HF should be closer to what the standard speed of ST should be.
Inthis video this guy just updated his SF2CE cab to HF and the speed seems faster than ours at SA. I wonder if we need to upgrade our eep Rom. I played this game in the arcade and it was much faster than the one we play on now.
I keep telling people that it’s most likely an issue with the rom chips, but nobody believes me That’s the consensus whenever I ask people why HF is so slow. It’s either missing a chip, or it’s the wrong one.
I own a HF board and a separate CE board. The speed difference between the two is drastic. At the same time, the speed difference between HF and U.S. version speed 2 Super Turbo is also very noticeable, with ST being faster. On real arcade hardware HF and ST speed is definitely not the same and it shouldn’t be expected to be the same. Sounds to me like people just aren’t used to the speed differences altogether. I know that speed cannot be changed in HF by any documented in game setting or dipswitch but was not aware of anything stemming from removal of chips or whatever. I would love to hear something definitive about this. Until then, I will assume that any faster HF versions are emulated or bootleg in some capacity.
How does YuuVega do a throw then immediately go to Devil’s Reverse? He does it at 9:53 then again at 10:19…I guess I need to work on my charge time…lols

Edit: after actually trying it, its super easy to do…disregard my post.
that was pretty sick. gonna steal it.
I’m surprised the charge can last that long without being in a down-position.
I’m always amazed at how well Muteki plays Guile v. Sim. He makes it look like it’s Guile favored.
EDIT: We’re going to have a stream tonight of Super Arcade ST. It should be starting up around 6pm or so. Here’s the link.
