It does indeed work on standing shoto’s. I have done it in practice. Its very difficult, but works just fine. There is some trick to doing it that I do not fully understand yet. I can post a vid on me doing it if you wish.
Papasi, I had it working at about 50% but then for some reason it stopped. The timing may be extremely tight.

Ok here is the proof… Both 4 and 5 hit combos. Both are non tool assisted. The first 4 hit requires early cancel in less than ~5 frames. 2nd 5 hit combo doesn’t require an early cancel.

No and that combo doesn’t work on Shotos.
pwned Mysterious fighter did a lot of crazy shit that you couldn’t imagine. I don’t know if anyone (maybe ganelon or VF4) can find footage of this 4 hit combo on shoto or other slim characters. This is the first time I saw that combo when spectating DGV vs MF’s games 2 weeks ago. 17 years lol still new combo to be discovered.
Those sf4 fancy 15 hits 30% combos are not as sexy as these big damage, clutch, tight combo

Yea, pwned is about right. You said it couldn’t be done and sure enough it can. Papasi never claimed he could do it. I didn’t believe him either when he told me, in fact I have never ever recalled seeing it done mid-screen(1994-2012, almost 18 years!). To humor him I decided to test it out and holy shit after about 10 tries and messing with the move inputs he suggested it landed. I can do it inconsistently, but not anywhere near 100% like this “Mysterious Fighter” can achieve.
This is the most damaging combo (non-super) Ryu has. It takes off an insane amount of life. Maybe, someone has the time to nail down the exact inputs and timing? Or better yet, talk to Mysterious Fighter and get the details. I would surely replace my old stock 4 hit (Dash FP – ST FP – F-FB) with this combo if I could perfect it.
Totally agree, and this combo seems to require “GDLK timing and execution”.
Papasi: Japanese player Shiro likes to use rush punch combos. He is probably the player that uses combos the most.
Damn this combo is friggin tough! I can’t even do it once against Ken/Ryu. If it is this tough to execute, maybe it’s not worth learning. These values are taken from the Ryu Wiki:
18 + 3 (Rush Fierce) + 19 (Crouch Strong) + 33 (Fierce Shoryuken) = 73
18 + 3 (Rush Fierce) + 24 (Close Fierce) + 19 (Fierce Shakunetsu Hadoken) = 64
It does about 10 points more damage than the Hadoken combo, which is not huge but not trivial either. Also it does a little more dizzy-stun too. So maybe it is worth learning (tho it’s a LOT easier to do on bigger characters like Gief).
Thanks Steve for posting the vid. I wouldn’t believe this combo is possible against Ken/Ryu without it.
I couldn’t get it to work once. Not sure if there is some extra requirement, like having to input cr.Strong as soon as possible. The SRK is whiffing.
The Shoryuken also gives a lot more super bar than a hadouken. I have seen some top Ryu players use aerial RH, cl.Jab xx Fierce SRK against characters such as Balrog, even though it does less damage than Fierce/RH, cl.Fierce xx Hadouken. I guess super bar is the reason.
thats the thing, a combo with such low success rate is useless n leaves u open for huge punishment when failed
The cr mp is a link, so it’s just regular timing, but the srk must cancel the mp asap.
I (and ultracombo) believe the input is
dash fierce, forward, down, mp, down-foward, fierce

if you do a full motion dp after mp, you might not cancel the mp fast enough.

It’s a low success rate for most of us. Not for mysterious fighter. And I have my vote on dgv & stevetren too. steve is freaking PHD of ryu and he’s sick with ryu combos.
The same goes for hawk’s corner safe jump, neg edge 360 + dp os.

it’s a very high chance instance dizzy + 70% damage!

Yeah I couldn’t believe it when I first saw MF did it to DGV. He did it twice on dizzy. He must practice it a lot to have that confidence to land them.
Are you sure pressing towards before inputting cr.Strong is not causing Ryu to take a tiny step towards before the cr.Strong? Cos this “early cancel” makes no sense to me. I have never heard of combos that demand such a thing. I doubt it even exists. I say this cos I have tried rush punch into cl.Fwd, and I could not get it to work without pressing towards, cos the far version would come out.

you do the forward while you are at the end of the dash fierce animation, so no you don’t move forward.
Fierce/Roundhouse = 20 frames of hitstun/blockstun

you can cancel cr mp within 6 frames, so either at frame 4, 5 or 6, but I guess if you cancel at 5 or 6, it won’t connect.
so just at or right before you are at the 7 frames advantage, you already started with forward, then down, mp, when mp connects, down forward double tap fierce

It is easy to check that the shoto dummy recovers 7 frames later than the attacker one. Normals do not work on the first neutral frame, so you can only really hit the dummy for 6 frames. Crouching Strong has 3 start-up frames, so you have 3 frames to input it. If the move is canceled, it will become a special attack after impact freeze, removing the last attacking frames and recovery from the equation. Else, the move recovers normally. All this has been verified.
I proceeded to test this frame by frame. After the rush punch, trying cr.Strong and then SRK resulted in the SRK whiffing every time, no matter what frame cr.Strong was entered (3 possible frames).
I then proceeded to hold towards while waiting to press cr.Strong. If I was to walk towards, then pressing cr.Strong at the first possible frame it was not going to work, cos it would come out before I could walk. Then I tried walking for 1 frame. The SRK still whiffed. Finally, I have tried walking for 1 frame, then waiting a frame, then entering cr.Strong. Failed. Tried waiting for a frame, walking the other frame, then cr.Strong. Failed again. Finally, I have tried walking for 2 frames, then entering cr.Strong xx SRK. This was the only way the SRK would connect. Thus, this shit is hard as hell.

This makes perfect sense. I can feel Ryu sliding forward slightly when I get it to connect properly. Thanks and good work! Now the only thing left is me to hit training mode to see if it can be perfected. Someone needs to talk to “Mysterious Fighter” and ask how many years he spend perfecting this combo…
