The number of active frames tells me that Capcom intentionally made meaties unreliable to discourage them. The mistake is that they didn’t count on players just going for them anyway because the potential reward is too good to pass up.
It’s not so much to discourage them, they are very much the bread and butter of the SF5 pressure game, it’s to make it a scramble situation where the defender also has a good chance of winning the exchange. It just goes back to the point that people like pressing buttons.

Basically Max doesn’t really like the game.
You realize that people hate Max on SRK right. I don’t have anything against him personally. It’s not like he’s LTG. If it wasn’t for SRK, I’d never see that idiot’s braindead coonery.
I don’t mind Max and enjoy listening to his videos where he’s just discussing the FGC. I think he’s a good speaker and entertainer and he has a pretty good knowledge of the games he talks about (usually). Nothing against him on my side. I’ll check that video out when I get home and have sound.
