how are you guys always running into tourny players online?
ive only played against two folks that were known tourny players is chris hu and juicebox.
meanwhile i live in nyc and none of the tourny players from here are ever online. except chris.
No plus on block moves either because being rewarded for getting blocked isn’t fair. Also white chip to the attacker for hurting their knuckles on the attackers guard.
There will be moves that move forward though, but they will be -20 at the very least.
It will be named “truth and honesty, the fundamental fighter” there will be over 30 characters but if you pick anyone other than ryu the announcer laughs and goes back to character select and picks ryu for you. Fundamental fighter of virtuous honesty cannot be blasphemed by any other than the wandering one.
Because saying that KOF 13 was one of my favourite games of all time implies that I only like a SF4 style neutral game.
I don’t have a problem with special moves that launch you forward. I have a problem with special moves that launch you forward so fast that they are hard to react to and these special moves are plus on block.
Turns out you can make a game that’s highly aggressive and still requires the player to actually think about what they are doing.
Actually I think it’s only Rog’s EX dash punch that moves him forward at plus. Everything else that hurls you forward in SFV is either slightly negative or highly negative even when spaced. Urien is the only other exception at 0 without any specific spacing, but he’s going to minus 2 after the patch.
I guess you could count EX DR and EX Barcelona, but those are technically airborne attacks and can be anti aired.
Minus on block half a screen away for getting someone to block a 3 frame normal. If you don’t have V-Reversal or your V-Reversal isn’t fast enough it’s insanely difficult to stop it.
Yes it’s a poor design. You can give everyone strong tools without giving them derpy tools.

And there is probably a few things I missed. There’s quite a few moves you can just throw out in neutral or in frame trap situations that launch you forward and are completely safe on block.
The game has way more moves like that then any other game I’ve played apart from Anime games, but in those games you usually have some kind of barrier system or something similar to allow you to negate it which is why I don’t like them in SF5 because you don’t have the mechanics to consistently deal with them.
If you want to make an anime game then you need to add anime defensive mechanics.
