The SSJ5 General Thread: E3 happening but Ono doesn't Spirit Bomb

apparently the voice actor thing wasn’t a leak at all. just Byron’s VA being listed in the credits because he appeared in Kolin’s story mode.

I would be curious about a stamina meter in SFV. Tie it to forward/backdash, and jumping and maybe make it drain while blocking. That way it makes offense stronger by limiting mobility but puts a check on all the dashing and jumping.

Just spitballing ideas.

If V-Reversals did the white health damage and stole a chunk of your opponents V-gauge, I think they would be far more interesting.

The only weird thing about Byron is he was called Byron in everything related to him until Kolin story mode…where he’s called Taylor

Stamina loss from guarding doesn’t seem like a good idea in SFV…

We all called it out. However most of us were hoping we were wrong and just didn’t know the game well enough. To misquote DJ but get his basic jist at the time:

“cmon guys, we all know games have no depth at the beginning of their lifespan but every streetfighter has some grimy depth to be learned later on once shit gets figured out”

Or some such.

For me though, about crush counters, my answer is to block them not jump them. That’s why I hate plus on block CC’s that have good range… luckily those are few and far between.

For max realism, it should drain a little bit for any action and would slowly recover by standing still. Crouching would make it recover faster. Now you can’t just walk back and forth and whiff normals willy-nilly.

Stamina loss if you are Cammy, Laura and Mika for pressing buttons in my face sounds allright.

One thing that bugs me about the pace and offensive orientation of SFV is that rushing down in SF is so bland compared to more anime fighters simply due to the series nature. I play SF for the slower more controlled pace but if they aren’t gonna go that direction I may as well go full retard and play Marvel.

If I’m gonna get in someone’s ass I want full on oppression, not the slow frame traps and fairly linear throw/hit mixups in SF.

Does that make sense?

I’m not a fan of the white life system in SFV. Or any kind of system that punishes people for blocking correctly. The game already heavily favors offense as is, if somebody blocks through a sequence of heavily + on block normals they shouldn’t be sitting on a medium’s worth of white life as their reward for proper defense.

There were characters that broke the commitment thing to some degree even in Season 1. Safe on block stuff that lead to solid situations for a character. That’s why Chun Li is actually a committal character now and is not where she was before when IALL was the thing to do when you were in a bind.

I feel like Punk kinda brings up my point that optimized Karin is something that not many people are capable of as far as execution and spacing. He also is able to control the neutral and whiff punish in a way where he doesn’t seem concerned with dashes and CC’s. All of the stuff that bothers SFIV players doesn’t seem to bother him. At this point Karin’s only weakness doesn’t even bother him anymore which is scary.

Completely agree.

That’s the problem I have with SF5. I’m all for rush down games. KOF 13 is one of my all time favourite fighting games and other than SF was a game I grinded on. SF5 does the formula for a rush down game wrong.

True, but the thing about Chun is her damage output wasn’t that high so you had some chances to guess right. To be honest I almost never lost to Chun players who were bad. She was a character that you had to be extremely good with to make me scared. Chun was top tier easily, but I don’t think just anyone could make her as scary.

Why, yes. Yes it does.

Don’t play Alpha 3 or CVS2, ever.

It was likely a change made for consistency with military characters in SF. We don’t call Guile by his first name.

Not even gonna edit that post. Just gonna let it rock out lmao

Yeah, it’s not really to argue anything, just that Capcom really just switched around who to complain about for similar reasons. Just with higher burst damage so even more of a problem.

Don’t worry I don’t. Don’t like it there either.

Yeah take your white chip like a man
