Ed is definitely not an after-thought. He helps link SFIV to SFV, he is probably important to not only Boxer and Dictator’s storyline, but also to Alex and perhaps Seth’s storyline.
For the first time in ages, they try to commit to story arcs, new characters that are related to previous unresolved storylines and do it in a way that is coherent, and people bitch.
All of the characters that were new in ASF are new to the SF Universe, and if they become playable, then how is that a bad thing?
Yet let’s be clear:
Ed is not a character from ASF, Ed is a character they have been developing since SFIV.
I don’t really care about story (I didn’t even know Ed was in IV), and I already acknowledged that he might end up being an interesting addition. My first impression about him was negative though, because he does look lame and generic. His gameplay might change my opinion.
This guy usually is on the up and up about SFV. He even said that there’d be more content after the initial Thailand stange/April Fools costumes (READ: WORK OUTFITS), etc.
Yeesh Capcom. That Ryce guy. “My biggest concern is that fewer special move commands might mean fewer special moves. I know Chris lost some stuff, and I don’t think he’s alone.”
