Seconded.That would include Bison’s ridiculous s.HK too, though.

I don’t main Bison, or any other charge characters, but charge partitioning would be helpful too. It’s kind of bullshit when a player whiffs a punishable move right in front of you, but slightly outside of combo range; making it so your best punish is either a heavy or a special. Like you can’t get in close enough without sacrificing charge, to do a combo of heavy + special etc.

And when did this thread become a Bison supoort group? Page One? Y’all gotta keep in mind that Bison doesn’t needs improvements so much, because with any character you play, you have to know your opponent and their character and organize your strategy around that in order to beat them with what you know of your own character.

-he doesn’t need too many imrpovements compared to say Vega or Guile, but if you’ve mained him since day 1 and know the ins and outs of having all of your specials negated by normals, then you’d know why this thread is the way it is. Every Bison player, pro or not, pretty much agrees on everything from O.Red’s initial post.

-page one for sure. lol. damn the image is so funny…a bunch of fold up chairs in a circle, all of bison’s alt colors encircling…“my…DR…it…it got beat without any trade against a jumping jab…” …everyone applauds, slightly teary eyed. Purple Bison stands up. “It’s okay…my psycho crusher was stuffed by jump back roundhouse and then he walked under my headstump and FADC ultrad me…you’re a brave man for coming in here today, let’s all give milkman bison a round of applause!” this is pretty much totally what that is and I admit it, we don’t play vega or anything and I don’t see so much of that stuff going on in his thread, I read a lot of positivity and encouragement. It’s just that we know nothing about how bison will be improved and are all anxious about it. I don’t know who you main but having most of you specials be actually useful is probably pretty nice. We’re salty at capcom and the salt will pour until we receive some new info.

^^Part of the problem is that it really seems like Bison may be left as is, just a slight damage increase. The fact is he only has one reasonable special and that’s scissors, and it’d be shitty and lazy of Capcom if it stays that way. The lack of information doesn’t help.

One reasonable special? Are you kidding? Apart from the normal psycho ( which has some nice chip property ), there is nothing wrong with he’s other specials. Infact I’d list EX-DR as the best “Get the hell outta that wakeup” move.

Someone already said this, but Bison doesn’t need any improvements, I feel ashamed as a Bison player to be connected to this cry for better specials and other stuff, and I’ve mained Bison since day 1. And if Bison actually gets a worthwhile ultra now, then theres no reason why he could not be top-tier.

Onemanarmada…have you ever tried to do skulldiver on ryu and succeeded? well congratulations, you’re playing some shitty ryus. when one button (cr.mk) causes a special to completely WHIFF leaving you open for punishment there’s something wrong with the hitbox of that move. when a fully extended DR can get beaten by a jumping normal or have a crouching normal make it whiff without trading there is something wrong with that move. If Headstomp can be beaten by jumping normals or avoided by taking literally one step forward or back, there is something wrong with that move, or at least it can be argued that its uses are severely limited especially compared to previous incarnations.

It’s easy to punish Bison midscreen for trying to escape by simply neutral jumping. If he PC’s, you’re safe, if he EX DR or EX Headstomps you simply neutral jump + whatever button and you win. if you don’t have this happen to you regularly on wakeup then good for you, but its not the awesomeness of these escape moves, its the fact that your opponent isn’t reading you properly and taking advantage of bison’s weaknesses.

So these tools are good as escape options, yea maybe, but what about offense? since when was Bison about having many escape options on wakeup? ST Bison was all about keeping up the offensive pressure precisely so that he wouldn’t get knocked down or worse yet, cornered. yea i know i know, that’s old news, but as a supposed return to roots, they kinda failed there.

If you’re finding these moves useful, good for you and keep it up, but most players that a majority of the folks that are posting here play against have figured that shit out and know how to counter it.

The art of Shotokan:

We’ll go in depth with what we could confirm in-game about the characters known as shotos. Ryu is one of the characters that suffers modifications: His new ultra, which imitates Gouken’s, does obscene damage. [useless stuff we already know about HP.SRK doing 2 hits]. Ken’s cr.HK is faster now and Guren Senpukyaku goes through projectilesand fullscreen. His Dash is also better.

Akuma, suffered some limitations. [stuff about the loop being gone because of far.HK being slower]. Furthermore, after an FADC’d hadoken, he can only do far.HK against characters with larger hitboxes. Sagat now has 1000 stamina points, Tiger Uppercut does less dmg and Angry Scar, an evasion move, makes his following uppercut stronger. st.lk is 2 hits now.

Girl power:

Chun got a few buffs. Her new Ultra juggles from EX.Hyakuretsu, with her Target Combo (j.HP~j.HP) and with EX.Spinning Bird when next to the corner. medium kick is also better (I assume they mean cr.mk) and EX.Legs now does more hits. Not all is good news, seeing that Ultra 1 still retains it’s juggling problems.
The consolation for Viper is that her 2nd Ultra does considerable damage. Cammy’s U2 is a counter move. Rose can now juggle Reflect xx FADC > Soul Throw. Her U2 looks good for applying pressure. Sakura’s hadoken is now fullscreen and the new Ultra can be used as an anti-air.

Misc:

From the rest of the roster we have collected several impressions. Abel has more stamina and his new Ultra has Super Armor and is a low grab [again, does this mean that the hitbox for the grab is low or that it’s a hit type ultra?]. The last hit of Boxer’s Headbutt> U1 does not juggle anymore [keno told us otherwise], but his U2 does a great amount of stun. Special mention to Blanka, a lot faster than before, and with a cr.HP [or cr.MP, not sure] that does more damage and has more range ?still not Dhalsim level- that now works better as an anti-air. Chip damage on U1 and Super has been reduced.

Guile has gotten some enhancements to make him more competitive. Flash Kick has gotten more range, more stamina and a projectile type U2 (Sonic Hurricane), that will probably be the most used by players. Claw’s cr.MK is now an overhead, and now has a comboable Ultra. Zangief got a new aerial Ultra that can be comboed after an FADC’d Lariat.

Rufus and Seth have anti-air Ultras, Dhalsim has an air-to-ground ultra, Gouken’s Denjin Hadoken is unblockable at full charge and E. Honda’s U2 is a command throw. Fei Long got a counter ultra.

Yeah I’m honestly wondering who he’s nailing people with these ‘amazing’ chip properties. Psycho Crusher is one of the least used moves in Bison’s arsenal, and when it’s best perk is the fact that it has good chip (and all forms are punishable by the entire cast) I really begin to wonder how skewed people’s thinking is. I know everyone has their coping mechanism. It’s far better than moping like I do, but be realistic. Bison has one, ONE special move anyone wanting to be the best is going to truly trust. Everything else is gamble. This is why you rarely see Dictator taking the gold. Nobody wants to put their money where their mouth is with this character. He’s all fun, hilariously fun and exceptional, but AS IS, he is not going to bring home the bacon.

It’s why you see players like Valle play with Bison a bit at Evo last year, get owned and switch to Ryu. People are not, stupid. I’ve gotten over the phase of wishing he was like ST Bison, I’m over that. Accepting him as is will just take time. Luckily, there are enough characters in SSF4 that do excite me aesthetically. Adon is one of them, Dudley another. I just hate to say that kind of thing, but I’m not going to drop SF over this kind of mentality. I may never be a top player, but I’ll be damned if I keep letting players get away with murder just because they play a Shoto. Oh no~ no way. If they beat me, they should have to earn it. Baby steps.

Not having any new info on Bisons changes are our biggest advantage yet.

From the looks of things so far, all that talk of “Characters getting a new move” was just a reference the the new ultras.

Tell me, since I was in Iraq when CvS2 was in its prime, and too broke when it was in the 'cades. I really missed out on what this move brought to Bison. Overall I knew CvS2 Bison was awesome because he was pretty much ST Bison +. (What he should have been in SF4).

What would Banish bring to SF4 Dictator though? Considering he wouldn’t have a custom combo, would it still be important? What is its application for precisely?

Which makes you think. Why the fuck would Capcom give Sagat a new move when he is already strong as hell? It makes no sense tbh.

It can negate fireballs, and people want it to be an overhead (even though it wasn’t in CVS2 afaik). It would give Bison a safer way to build meter and a decent mix-up while on the offensive.

Should shit can Psycho Crusher, and turn it into an Ultra. Make it his Ultra 3 in Turbo, when the time comes. Give him Psycho Banish and Psycho Shot…huh, but that’s Shin Bisons moves. Well, Akuma’s EX are of his Shin form…can’t Capcom do the same with Bison?

Hrm~ can’t see why they would have an issue with this. I’m sure we’d have heard something by now if this was in the game though. I’m honestly surprised at the lack of news on old characters. I’m guessing the seals are just that tight on all these builds?

Something that big would have already been announced, would change his game entirely.

I don’t thing he really needs a new move. He could’ve been much more interesting if they fixed his other specials. I think it’d be awesome if he had some sort of juggle into DR, but I have no idea how that’d work besides something like gouken’s throw (don’t really want that though).

Didn’t Andre already post something hinting at new tools? It really is hard to believe with the lack of info though.

Please stop promoting Psycho shot, it was useless in every game it was available in. We don’t need to replace a useless move (psycho crusher) with another useless move, just adjust it. And a fireball would just hinder dictator’s offensive playstyle.

Psycho shot bad ? It was one of his only usable moves in the alphas.
