I’d like his Psycho Explosion for a second ultra
This is going to sound scrubby (maybe) but I want him to have that shit he uses on Ken in the SF2 animated movie.
I see the move like this: He punches you in the gut with a huge purple fist which stuns you, then he places his hands over your ears (the background goes black at this point) and his eyes/hands glow purple, until there is an explosion that sends you to the back of the screen.
As you fly away, he folds his arms or maybe even taunts you with something like “You fool!”.
^^see now, THATS some dope shit… i’d play the purple fisted one if he had some dope shit like that.
-dime
it would be a great ending to an ultra, i’ll give you that
the more and more i think about it, the more I am beginning to fear for selectable ultra’s. I stand by my previous statements that they should BOTH be available to you in the match.
What the hell, why? That makes no sense. Imagine if Chun Li had her current Ultra and some kind of anti-air Ultra available to her at the same time. She could down back all day and there would be fuck all you could do about it. Think about how many set ups Ryu would have with two Ultras at his disposable, you’d be afraid to do anything, so you’d have to turtle. Do you honestly want to make the game more defensive than it already is?
i’m speaking more about unlocking them as your ultra fills up
50-90% full = ultra 1
90-100% full = ultra 2
as fun as having both available at the SAME TIME, i can see where the problems in that would be
You didn’t mention that. This game already has 7 Alpha characters though, we don’t need to borrow gameplay mechanics from that game too . There’s a lot more strategy involved with selectable Ultras, because you have to commit to your choice. Also certain Ultras will help against certain characters, so the way match ups are played just got a little deeper.
nah, that’s just awesomely nerdy, not scrubby.
I know it’s horrible but I get nerdy like that when I have the match in the bag and I’m playing sagat or some other character that gives me trouble, I teleport around like a madman like when Guile tries to fight Bison towards the end of the movie but Bison’s all like “nah.”
For an ultra I’d like to see that shit from…damn I think it was SNK but I could be mistaken…well anyways I’d like it to start with Bison teleporting off screen, turning into a gigantic psychocrusher and then have it end with Bison doing machine-gun kicks in the air with his arms crossed, ending with a head(curb)stomp. man that river-dance shit would look awesome in SF4 with his big ass grin.
As far as what’s likely from Capcom or what’s not, well the more I think about it, I think we might get some features from Beta Bison back. Back then he was considered OP and top tier, but he was nerfed as a response to the complaints. The thing is, if he had been kept the same I think that, based off of what I read, people would have just adapted to him and he’d end up slightly higher on the tier lists than now or stay the same except people wouldn’t sweat bullets to win with him. Knowing this and knowing how awesome Capcom’s original design was, i don’t think it’s wishful thinking to hope/expect for any returning move properties.
^What was Beta Bison like laudanum09?
I just know from the discussion a few pages back and from stuff posted in the SF4 Dictator thread a long time ago. Basically PC left the opponent in hit stun until you pass through safely. Slide was safe and unpunishable (throw tech if he sldies close enough or just block his pressure if he’s far enough for cr.lk so i don’t see what the big deal about this is). I honestly think its just giving him fake slide and real slide in one move and its really not a big deal in hdr remix.
you can find out more in the thread this post was made in:

from the sounds of it, it was extremely hard to lock down Bison. Once in a corner, he could either teleport out, or just ex PC out, no problems.
I’m a little pissed at Capcom. They saw a character was a little OP, and there idea to fix him was nerfing the hell out of him.
Then you look at some of the truly OP characters (Sagat, Ryu, Akuma), and I wonder what the fuck they were thinking. I think sometimes Capcom tries to please the japanese TOO much.
Ryu’s not overpowered. He’s just right. Every character should be at Ryu’s level. DP trade to Ultra is annoying, but it wouldn’t be so bad if most of the cast could do it too off of reversals.
Sagat’s slightly overpowered. Mainly his damage is a little too high and his Tiger Knee’s active phase lasts a little too long. I also think the F+HK juggle move is completely unnecessary.
Concerning Ultras, all worries about having multiple ultras at once are overblown. What will happen, though, is that over time one Ultra will prove superior to the other and will get picked exclusively while the other is never picked except for shits and giggles, and thus might as well not exist. It happened before and it will happen again because it’s a stupid mechanic that only works in theory.
(BTW, Chun’s other Ultra will probably be Kikosho).
I half agree with you here. I truly have very little problem with most of his tools, and don’t feel they are that OP. However, he trades FAR too often into ultra (i’ve said a thousand times, some moves he should trade with, but not recover in time to Ultra…also, some moves should flat out knock him down on trade).
His cMK avoids way too many moves. Whether that can be fixed by altering his hitbox, or other characters hitboxes needs to be addressed.
He just needs a tad bit less health (although they are supposedly nerfing NOTHING in the game, which I feel is a flatout lie), and way less damage. Tiger Knee could be fixed too…a character like him does NOT need loops.
See, as much as ppl cry about how the game would play if people had two ultra’s at once, I still feel it would be fun to play. I truly don’t think it would make the game a turtlefest. I think that having to pick ultra’s will just make it like u said it. One ultra will be always chosen, while the other will be relatively ignored (rather than giving a character two tools to use). Either way, when a character gets ultra now, with just one ultra, the game play changes. Giving an extra ultra won’t lead to that much of a drastic change, but some ppl seem to feel that it will.
I look at Vega, and barring some sort of miraculous change to his current ultra, I cant see people ever picking it again once they have another option. Same goes for a few other characters, like Fei Long.
The other problem I see with picking Ultras, is Gen. How the fuck is that going to work, with potentially FOUR ultra’s to choose from???
And yeah, I think it’s common knowledge that people know what Ken, Ryu, and Chun-Li’s second Ultra will be.
The “make the 2nd ultra available after getting the revenge meter to 90-100%” idea is interesting. Less turtlefest there.
Not nerfing anything can be taken different ways. I mean they are not nerfing anything which means they aren’t taking anything away, but if they add a lot of options to everyone else, technically that’s a nerf isn’t it? I guess it depends on if your definition of nerfing refers to options available, or to a drop in tiers.
I would like both Ultra’s available for using in the match whenever the revenge bar fills up, it just needs a different input. b,f,b,f+PPP, and if they don’t remove the fucking shortcut system … I’m going to nerd rage so hard.
Wouldn’t changing hitboxes or frames be considered a nerf in some cases? I’m not saying we’re gonna see Sean style nerfs coming in, or anything drastic, but I can’t see all of Sagats moves doing the exact same damage, or seeing his f+HK still be comboable into Ultra.
I figure there will be SOME nerfs, but they’ll probably be minor. Capcom likely still is working on shit like this, so for them to come right and say “yes, some of Ryu/Sagats moves will get nerfed” would cause a fucking uproar in the community, so it’s easier to just say nobody is getting nerfed.
And while I originally felt that my idea of Ultra’s unlocking depending on how full your bar is was flawed (if the ultra’s used the same command, you’d have a problem if your bar was close to unlocking the next ultra), now I realize that if the ultra’s use different commands, it would work fine.
PC should have stayed that way, since the start up is so bad not to mention its super slow.
man ever vid he’s getting beat up by juri first juri i see online im wrecking with psycho power
I really like the idea of selectable ultras. Even though in the past only one ultra has proved useful I think with some good game design both ultras could prove useful and perhaps be match up dependent. So for instance you would choose one optimal ultra against shoto types, and the other ultra might be better against grapplers. And maybe in some match ups, one ultra would better fit a turtle style, the other a rushdown game?
