The SRK Movie Fanatic Thread (REVIEWS, QUESTIONS, RANTS, STARS...ETC.) EVERYTHING!

The 1408 trailer is hot as fuck. Can’t wait for this one to come to the UK. Seems the perfect mix of traditional genre stuff and Lynchian mindfuck madness.

STOKED for this one.

i saw fantastic four 2…it wasnt a good movie but it was MILDLY entertaining…

i also saw Shooter with marky mark…it was ALRIGHT…it had the most rediculous advertising i have ever seen in a movie, this dude was like “how did you find out”, “well he was at STARBUCKS where they have FREE WIFI” i laughed so hard i had to stop the movie…

im looking forward to a movie i saw a preview for during fantastic four called Vantage Point looks pretty tight…

definitely NOT a horror film, just a thriller but was worth the money. My chick and I saw it yesterday. BTW gorath, If and What i guess would be the Q’s concerning the wonder years iirc you do own them as from what I know, there’s only the bootleg version available.

…eh?

The movie M is on TV tonight, seemed interesting. Gotta put some time away for a top rated movie from the 1930s, I think.

Did anyone feel cheated by Live Free or Die Hard?

I thought it was a great action movie, but it wasn’t a Die Hard movie if that makes sense. The main character was def not the same John McClane from 1-3. Somehow he went from an ordinary cop who was in the wrong place to superhuman.

When I saw the trailer I knew this was going to happen.

I stayed in and watched an oldie from my movie collection last night.
It went a little somethin’ like this:

8 more days till Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween,
8 more days till Halloween,
Silver Shamrock !

Quick Trivia ('cause I’m bored at work):
What movie did I watch ?

halloween 3 sucka

Ratatouille and Live Free or Die Hard both kicked ass. I don’t remember the original Die Hards well enough to know whether or not it follows, but it was a great action flick.

Ratatouille stuck me as one of Pixars best movies, it was the first movie I’ve seen this year where I didn’t realize until the credits that I was watching a movie (No checking my phone for time, etc). Very enjoyable.

LFoDH was just… nonstop action, that kicked all kinds of ass. Good one-liners, typical action movie, but good.

“Little asian chick, likes to kick people?”

Heh.

Mr. Brooks bored the fuck out of me. Which is amazing, because I’m obsessively interested in serial killers. It’s pretty hard to bore me with the subject. Something was just… off.

Has anyone seen ‘Surfs Up?’ It looks… retarded… I mean another penguin movie… but it’s getting good reviews so I’m conflicted.

Is the implication here that I hate everything? I guess that’s true for the most part

My opinion of 1408 has changes since I saw it. When I watched it the first time, it was captivating, but the more I think about it the less I like it.

Sicko was horrible.

i may go see sicko today, not sure. i’m not a fan of animation, so i doubt i’ll see ratatouille, and i def won’t see die hard. in my mind, there is only ONE die hard film, and it’s the one with alan rickman. tranformers will be a nice segue to potter, but in my mind that’s the only film coming out right now…week and a half to go…

there are people now who dont remember the die hards…i weep for our youth

will see sicko today…on the bigscreen as it was intended

Sicko completely blindsides you emotionally with bullshit, be prepared.

A few examples-

He implies throughout the entire film that if you go into an American ER and are hurt, they’ll charge you before helping you, that’s simply bullshit. I’ve had to go to the ER quite a few times and I’ve never seen a credit card machine before I got treated. Maybe it happened in a few extreme cases, but that certainly doesn’t imply it happens to everyone.

He talks about how great Frances government is, well after he produced this film they overthrew their government in favor of a more conservative government.

Countless cases of citing the worst possible thing he could find, and acting like it’s the norm (Like visiting MLK hospital in LA, it’s since been condemned).

The man is a bullshit artist.

Is anyone actually stupid enough to believe this? Are people really still watching Moore films?

Focus

I watched 1408. It was terrible; an absolute waste of time.

About 6 years ago I went to the hospital with stomach pains at around 1am. Sat in the waiting room for 5 hours while they called my insurance company and tried to haggle over what treatment I could receive (they had trouble reaching someone cause of how late it was and it’s a smaller insurance company). Now this was before I even got x-rays or seen by a doctor. In the waiting room my appendix ruptured sending poisons into my bloodstream nearly killing me. I had to be hospitalized for almost 2 weeks and it cost almost a million dollars to the insurance when it was all said and done (and my premiums quadrupled next year).

The waiting room wasn’t busy at all, the only thing keeping the doctor from seeing me was they wanted to make sure I could afford it before they did anything (even though I could afford it, I came in alone at the age of 19 with no parents or guardians within 7000 miles so they just assumed young kid = no money) and as a result I could of died.

The funniest thing was I felt sharp pains in my stomach that were so much worse than I ever had and it was more consistant pain and I tried to tell them something happened and something was wrong and they told me just to sit down and they will get to me soon. Next thing I know I’m waking up in a room 2 days later. Apparently I passed out and caused a big scene in the ER, too bad I missed it haha.

So that’s one more case where they wouldn’t see someone until I showed them the money.

I mean Moore might sensationalize a lot, but the point he’s trying to make still holds true. Health care in the US should be non profit and not run by big businesses because most businesses don’t care about people, they just care about profit.

That’s horrible, but it’s hardly the standard. Moore presents it as though this happens every time anyone comes to the ER.

We must have seen different films then, because there was nothing in the movie I saw about going into American ER’s and being charged before being helped. Lots about the charges you accrue after an emergency room visit, but that certainly can’t be dismissed as just happening in a few extreme cases.

Again we must have seen different movies, because I heard no pontifications about the greatness of French government, just their healthcare system, work week, and other social benefits. I’m also not sure what France having an election has anything to do with this, as I’m sure you know the conservative party didnt run on privatizing the healthcare system, dismantling the work week and denying workman’s comp.

I live in LA, and King-Drew is still up and running, although hopefully not for long. The bittersweet part for us LA viewers is the knowledge that more cases of patients arriving at K-D only to be denied service and die/almost die in the waiting rooms have occured since the movie was shot.

I’ll give you that he is an artist, but this time the bullshit seems to be coming from you.

Yes, we definitely must have seen different films. They put emphasis on the guy that had his fingertips chopped off having to pay several points later in the movie in addition to his interview of a few minutes, when they go to other governments health care systems he puts emphasis on how easy they get care. I’m really, really surprised that you don’t recognize these tactics, either you’re immune to them or you’re completely blindsided. This was a running theme of the film. If you push the issue I’ll re-watch it and take notes.

You didn’t catch a ‘The French are awesome, America sucks’ vibe from that movie? Are you fucking serious? I mean… he goes and interviews a bunch of Americans in France that say EXACTLY that for at least 10 minutes. You definitely didn’t see the same film I did.

I heard it was condemned to be shut down. And you have dodged my point completely- He presents this in a manner as to say ‘This is what Hospitals are like in America,’ not ‘Here’s an example of one of the worst Hospitals in the world, which happens to be located in America.’ If you don’t immediately recognize the difference in his implication and the truth, wow.

My problem with Moore isn’t his point, health care in America does suck. Drug prices are fucking insane, and people that work shitty jobs (Me) can’t afford health care. If my parents didn’t have my back I’d pretty much be fucked if I ever got seriously hurt. But that doesn’t justify Moore’s emotional terrorism. His methods are downright terrible, and he comes so close to lying without directly lying you probably couldn’t express it mathematically.

just curious where do you work? and are you saying you do not get benefits there???

my godmothers brother whos a professor at hardvard practially invented how the health care system works in the U.S. (in terms of who pays what, etc etc), right now he is doing research in 3rd world countries on what type of health is the most efficient to use with their…“budget” for health care…shit is pretty interesting…currently what he is finding is “walking” doctors work the best…where they come to you when you need help…so all the money is put in a central medicinal building for these walking physicians to use…

anyway i will try to talk to him to see what his view point is…

ps…i thought the movie was ass…i dont understand how people think picking OUT of the norm circumstances and passing it as this is the majority good film making…i have friends in canada who say their health care system is not good…so what does that mean? that this represents 100% the majority of what people say??? get the fuck outta here with that shit…

Blockbuster. I pretty much won’t have health care until I join the WGA.

O.o

Knocked Up made more than Sicko on its opening weekend and it’s been out a month lol

Shitty weekend in movie sales, can’t believe how little ratatouille and lfodh are making.
