Worst movie of all time. Like, if you’re not going to be suspenseful/scary, at least be gory/bloody/nudity/etc… The Hitcher wasn’t anything but a waste of Sean Bean’s talent.
I was actually rooting for the bad guy. Everytime something bad happened to the retarded chick, and her less-retarded boyfriend, I cheered a little inside.
And lmao at the chick’s magical transformation from scared girly-girl, to badass, mean-muggin’ shotgun toting bitch near the end… so lame.
I partially agree with you, but Miike’s really been changing things up the last few years, with several recent films being significant departures from his usual scenarios.
It will be interesting to see what and how he does in the next five years.
All valid points. However, I just thought the way Charlie took out the mobsters in 4 was far more stylish, professional, and cold-blooded than the rest of the series, and ultimately, that’s what matters the most.
True that. It was certainly a departure for the series…
i finally saw saturday ngiht fever the other night.
and i loved it. the pacing of the movie was nice, the editting could use work but for its’ time it was great. The ending, tho, felt sudden. “let’s just be friends.” hmm yeah, i can accept that, but there wasnt much of a build up to it aside from him wandering the trains the whole morning.
Does anyone know the name of the movie they showed a trailer for during Spiderman 3? It’s the one that starts with a bunch of college students during the 60s that undergo the hippy movement. It looks average at first, then it there’s all this crazy imagery toward the end of it. I think it’s called A Journey Through the Universe, but every time I do a search I get links to books and websites about the solar system, lol.
I knew of Wes Craven and his son helming Hills 2, and I had heard of Clark’s approval of the remake, but a few things. First, once the writers sell the story to the studio 20+ years ago or whatever, they have no say in what gets remade. So they either get behind it and make some money or fight it and deal with drama that they can do nothing about. Second, being the producer does not mean you write the script or direct the movie, the two positions that possess the most power and creative input. I would argue that Scream was a good story. It was a very tongue in cheek slasher. I found it to be original and relatively suspenseful. However, I sympathize with detractors. All in all, I understand what you are saying, but it is the studios who decide to milk a remake for a generation that refuses to sit through any movie from before 1995.
And I didn’t know the origin of the Nightmare idea somehow. Thanks for educating me. Craven is by no means one of my favorite directors, I don’t want to give the wrong impression, but he seems to be the focus of the discussion, and he is a staple of the old school, so it is a fair focus. I’m curious what some of your favorite horror flicks are? Always good to talk to a fellow enthusiast.
saw pans labyrinth (sp), i thought it was good, but not as good as everyone was saying it was…pretty solid though, very suprising moments in some spots…i didnt like how they gave away the ending at the beginning…
I know this wasn’t directed towards me, but I’ve never been able to understand why Wes Craven is considered such a “master” of the horror genre. Outside of a few Freddy films that were only scary for teenagers in the eighties, his films completely suck. “Last House on the Left” sucked. “Scream” sucked.
What’s the deal with his inordinately large reputation?
Focus-
I saw Ali G Indahouse only yesterday, despite being a huge fan of the show.
My friends had told me how horrible the film was and to avoid at all costs. I listened.
I regret that now. While the film felt very disjointed and amateurish at times, it was still consistently funny and entertaining. One finally gets a chance to see Ali’s “Me Julie”, “Ricky C”, “Nan”, as well as the mythical town of “Staines”.
Overall, it’s a very good comedy, although significantly different from “The Ali G Show” itself.
Hills Have Eyes is good, as is Nightmare on Elm Street and I enjoy Scream (but maybe that’s because Im forced to like everything Matthew Lillard is in). The rest? Not so good, culminating in the werewolf movie that almost puts Howling: New Moon Rising to shame: Cursed
is grinhouse the other? i think 2007 has been a better year than 2006 was at this time. spiderman 3 was a dissapointment, but grindhouse and hot fuzz more than make up for it’s shortcomings. i really wanna see the lives of others. i’m still hopeful for pirates 3 and of course harry potter 5. i think harry potter 5 is going to blow the other summer movies out of the water…but i’m not in the “excited to see transformers” crowd…
ya, there has not been that much that i have liked…
300,
grindhouse,
hotfuzz,
the lookout…
basically im waiting for die hard, it looks like a fun movie but dont know if it will be good…pirates 3 and…i guess i should be excited about transformers but really im not THAT excited about it…i also kinda want to see Mr. Brookes…
So…I saw 28 Weeks Later the other night and…I must say, I liked it. Sure, maybe it’s not the gritty real-horror bullshit that certain people might like, but I was entertained (jumped a couple of times, but I get that way about these sorta flicks) and I felt it had a nice atmosphere to it.
I haven’t seen 28 Days Later, but maybe I should.
