Yeah I feel it takes away from the experience. I saw IF first and I strongly disliked TD. I felt that TD was way too Americanized and the plot twists were pretty much spoiled.
It’s like watching the same movie, but I felt they made the western version “cheesy” and overemphasized the wrong things.
I saw Departed 1st then IA… Departed’s dialogue alone sets the movie apart from IA (doesn’t make it better but makes it worth watching, even if you prefer IA)… I liked how they handled the ending and the boss in IA better, I felt everything else in Departed was superior. Plot-wise, both movies are practically a scene-for-scene match, with Departed dropping some surprises, changes and artistic license here and there.
no, i’m not bashing kate. i love kate. i love kate sooooo fucking much. kate is actually my number one of celebrities i would do distgusting acts just to be with. i also think she is a brilliant actress. it wasn’t a bash at all, she seems to be the oscar golden girl of this generation.
so, now hollywood has found it’s new way around making “remakes” by doing the broadway show version of the story on film…i know this has happened for the producers, but now hairspray? this is all a remake in my book and how can you top the og hairspray with licky rake? i can’t believe this. however, seeing john travolta in drag and christopher walken in, well anything, might entice me. i am, however, a john waters fan and i’m not very happy with remakes of any kind. i never even bothered with the producers remake. yeah, i’m calling it a remake, cuz essentially, thats what it is…same characters, same story…being on broadway does not excuse remaking quality cinema. hairspray is not “quality”, but it’s john waters…
so has anyone seen the movie, The Proposition with Guy Peirce?
that was a pretty intense movie…a VERY general synopsis of what it is about…the main character Guy, is given a proposition that to save his little brother from prison he has to kill his older brother, who is a crazy ass maniac wanted for murdering people…
serioulsy it is very intense…
i would say that it could even go on a top 10 list for top movies of 2006…
yeah I watched The Proposition a few weeks ago, thought it was pretty good although felt like there was just something missing. Really good acting though
Went to the Grindhouse last night and watched an awesome movie by Jack Hill called Switchblade Sisters. Had to bail on the second feature because my girl is sick at home but Jack Hill and one of the actresses was in attendence and did a Q&A.
you know, i was watching jaws last night and it came up on the quint speech about the indianapolis, that is one of my favorite movie moments ever. i get chills to this day when he starts talking about the sharks “lifeless eyes”…anyone have some fave monologes from movies?
Pump up the volume when slater talks about all the great themes being used up and turned into theme parks; Any monologue in Pulp Fiction (or resevoir dogs). Several good ones in Red Beard (the dying guy’s story that caps the first section of the film)…um…
I’m sure most of you who would care, have already seen it… The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane is a movie I have to recommend. Top score for a brilliant piece of work.
I used to watch Rad religiously back in the day (waay back) along with some other bike movie called bmx bandits. In Rad, I could never understand why the bad guy waited for the main character to catch up in the big race at the end. Those two movies along with Thrasher and Gleaming the cube were my childhood.
what makes you say that? I dont know anyone who seriously thinks eastwood will win this year.
Heat - idiocracy is a good bad movie…or a bad good movie…
Watched the original Hitcher - very enjoyable. c thomas howell is the man.
also watched Primer - pretty good, makes me glad I have no engineer friends.
i saw “this film is not yet rated” - very good film. the presentation of the material is ok, but the topic itself is very interesting…
edit: to pg - my brother has seen rad so many times, you can literally play the first note of the opening music and he knows what it is, intsantly. my 80’s skate movies were all the old bones brigade shit like search for animal chin…
