The SRK Movie Fanatic Thread (REVIEWS, QUESTIONS, RANTS, STARS...ETC.) EVERYTHING!

The whole “rent it” mentality has to do with how much cash a person thinks a movie is worth. It’s worth it as a $4 rental and not worth it as a $8 + night out at a theater.

pft, where did you just fly in from, 1996? 8 bucks? pleaaase

:rofl: I had been about to ask!! “What place on Earth is charging less than 12?!”

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I think a movie is either worth the money or it isn’t. What’s the money? Whatever it is that I’m paying for it–a buck fifty, $8 or whatever. (Shit, where are you paying $4 to rent movies? They’re screwing you.) A movie that isn’t good enough to pay full price for the ticket isn’t good enough, period. There are better movies out there.

I would say it’s either worth the money and time or not, but if someone else brings it to the party and you’ve got a big circle of people standing around making fun of it, yeah, I guess the mild amusement is worth the time. Ghost Rider, for example.

Local multiplexes around here still charge eight bucks or below, depending on discounts. IMAX shows are $12, though.

The real shit is on campus, though. They pick up films second-run and charge two bucks per screening. If you live in the dorms, it’s free.

that’s because no one in michigan has a job anymore

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

8 bucks is expensive to us…it used to be madd cheaper before amc and regals took over and have a monopoly on Massachusetts. but they dont really make the money on the tix its those fucking snacks. fucking christ 4 bucks for a small bottled water…5 for nachos…dont get me started on soda.

Wow. It’s 12 bucks regular here, 10 with a student card.

Yeah, that’s the really crazy shit. You pay three or four bucks for some popcorn, when you can make better popcorn at home with some kernels, oil, and salt that would collectively cost you probably less than a dollar.

But hey, it’s tradition. And around here, free refills are commonplace.

gran torino this weekend:

2 tickets = $29
Validated Parking = $3

baja fresh across the street > concession stand

I haven’t paid to see a movie in a theater in about 10 years, as long as I was in town. Worked at a theater as a teenager, then was friends with the manager at another, and now my little brother is a projectionist at one. Score.

VERY nice HD trailer of the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie coming out in May over at FilePlanet. If I remember correctly, it was the same trailer leaked from Comi-Con way back when.

Lookin DAMN nice. Hugh looks ferocious raising out of that antimantium bath.

it cost $32 to take a girl to see bolt in 3d

$12 + $4 for 3d glasses :frowning:

My theater is charging $9.50 and I live in the Windy Apple.

~

Anyway, there are quite a few movies I’m interested in seeing:

Gran Torino
Frost/Nixon
Milk
Valkyrie
Doubt
The Black Balloon

saw Chasing Amy last night.
maaaaaaaaaannn…WTF happened to Kevin Smith? dude needs to stop makin movies cuz he’s lost it. how can you go from Chasing Amy to Jersey Girl/Zack and Miri? unbelievable. you’re suppose to get better w/ each movie, not progressively worst :shake:

ok, would appreciate some help. taking a girl to the movies. wanted to know if anyone here saw Australia; what they thought of it; and whether they thought it would be a good date movie, or just too long!

thanks

I hate to be the bad guy here, but every AMC theater in New Orleans charges $4.50 on weekdays.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire recently. Really good movie.

Amordien Runs the Voodoo Down

BASTARDS! The whole LOT of YA!! :mad:/:rofl:

Yeesh…Nawlins though…I can’t complain about anything they get for cheap, considering Katrina.:shake:

got dragged to seeing Seven Pounds. man…it’s like a cheesy, melodramatic korean movie. in other words, pretty crappy. the “twist” was predictable and i’m pissed i wasted money on it.

Land of the Lost flick with Will Ferrel

If this is not a comedy, then WTF?
