All day today I haven’t been able to think of anything but this movie. This is why I love movies. Anyone see Nacho Cerda’s old short film Aftermath? This is like that meets Hellraiser.

edit: sorry, i had to look up what “aftermath” was - so, is it about sado-masochistic demons from hell that enoy defiling corpses in a very disturbing manner?

Girlfriend and I watched Idiocracy last night. She enjoyed it a lot; I enjoyed it with reservations.
It dragged in spots during the first half, and voiceover was used way too often to explain things. There was also one key scene in which the CGI was Saturday morning cartoon quality. Perhaps if Mike Judge had access to more money, the stuff that was explained through narration could have been illustrated visually, and the effects as a whole could have been polished up. Or it could just be that some of the stuff he was attempting to portray was beyond cinema, in which case, it would have been better off as a novel.
On the other hand, the satire was brilliant and it had an uplifting (and kind of overstated) message at the end. Luke Wilson was obviously cast to type, as he fits the role perfectly.

ok, so the very brief plot description on wiki left me wanting to see the film, while pg’s review has warned me not to. i mean, last house on the left almost made me lose my lunch…will i even be able to handle the film?

Saw a trailer on the Rogue DVD for this, it looks pretty gruesome. I thought it was a Last House on the Left remake first time I saw it. Guess I’ll look out for it.
from the comments i’ve read, i’d say this film is much more deep and profound than last house…
i dont want to overhype too much…but you guys will probably forget about all this by the time the dvd comes out anyway. Just do yourselves a favor and do not spoil yourself to the plot, even out of curiosity (the plot description on wikipedia is like literally just the first 5 minutes of the movie)
