The SRK Lounge v. 6.0: Random nonsense and tomfoolery

Always seems that way with a game that appeals to mostly youngsters.

Shrinking. . . during a global pandemic?!

Silver lining is it took Covid-19 to get Japan to re-evaluate their netcode nonsense. Not every country has hella fast internet speed d00dz, so we can’t roll with that sloppy ass online play that’s compensated for by BIG BANDWIDTH on your lovely tiny island nation.

I honestly feel that fighting games need to embrace the free to play model. Only the hardcore players use more than one, or two characters - so a F2P model wouldn’t impact most players. They would still hit us with gobs of paid DLC, which those fans will buy to customize that one or two characters they main.

Plus the game just lends itself to F2P with the speed of matches. Gundam Maxiboost beta test was the most time I spent with a game last year, because I enjoy fighting games and it didn’t take long at all to find the next match. Unlike something like say Fortnite or PUBG, which takes far longer to get a match started, and honestly isn’t all that fun to me - so I’d rather be playing a fighting game.

All day.

Every day.

Japanese fighting games are life. Western fighting games go directly into trash. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200 in DLC.

MK been better than any crapcom game over the last 13 years

Bite your tonged.
MK been trash

MK better than Capcom’s fighters in everything EXCEPT actual gameplay. MK games are jerky and kinda play like shit, but everything else is so well done, we kinda overlook it

To be fair can you name any fighting game franchise that has been amazing in the past 10-15 years?

Tekken and VF (when they used to make em atleast) have both been fairly great to amazing or atleast consistent IMO

Tekken has the crown since T5.
Capcom dropped it after CVS2.

2nd would be KOF,but since it’s “ugly” y’all don’t play it much relative to SF.

I can give the benefit of the doubt with VF (didnt play 5 much due to lack of game knowledge but liked what I did play) but for I can’t agree with Tekken. Like you said Tekken 5 was amazing but that was back in like 2004. They haven’t made a good one since. 6 was Bob or die and don’t get me started on 7.

T4 is messy it’s the mvc2 of tekken, t5 is weird t6 also wonky, tag 2 is controversial, t7 is almost universally loved.

Virtua Fighter has been fantastic. Injustice has been pretty good especially with 2’s release. DoA’s gameplay made a noticeable improvement with 6 and 5 was slightly better than mediocre.

P.S. Capcom published Sengoku Basara X in 2008 and Shijou Saikyou No Deshi Kenichi: Gekitou! Ragnarok Hachikengou in 2007, which are better fighters mechanically than any Mortal Kombat release if that counts.

One year of American tier whores in Tekken 6 (BR) does not define its competitive variety throughout its life. Bloodline Rebellion even had Yoshimitsu and Mokujin winning some tournaments. It standardized jab frames and completed the tool sets of every character. Only knock against it was the juggle to wallsplat, bound, and air throw/re-wallsplat. I don’t think its any worse in that regard than Tekken 5 DR’s many heavy hits connecting on grounded opponents or the absurd wall carry juggles.

All Tekken Tag 2 had to do is have a standard 1v1 option and none of that 2v1 crap and 2 character juggle marathons. Mid crush sucked and made for some shitty hitbox interactions, but otherwise the instalment was mechanically sound with the exception of some glaring death juggles/infinite combos. The excessive input delay I would probably label a technical issue coming from sacrificing offline to improve online as the Tekken Hybrid demo did not have it. Why Wariohachi replaced Heihachi and why Nina and Christie became MK linebackers in this release, however, remains a mystery.

Tekken 7 is trash tier though.

Your hate for t7 is the weirdest shit I’ve seen on this site and I’ve been here since 01

How is it weird when it is the worst modern instalment of the franchise that cripples its own gameplay system, is technically deficient, is the most expensive, and is completely lazy as far as content and AI is concerned.

Not doing this again. Keep shaking your fist at the sky old man
