The SRK Blazblue General Discussion Thread

yeah we talked with University Pinball already, they’re in

i understand that they “ended” the gg series, but this game, as i repeat, looks like a gayer version of gg. Why on earth would you make almost every character resemble a gg character? and a gimpier version at that? and its hardly that different gameplay wise, that potemkin wannabe even has some of potemkin’s move

i will stick to my accent core

Has Chinatown Fair been contacted?

So does this game.

Manly and ripped - bang
Cute girls - all 4 girls
Gay characters - Jin
Wierd guys - Arachne
ambiguous people - Carl Cloverfield

You guys should contact Tokyo Game Action in MA too, they’ve expressed interest in getting the game and it’d be great if you could. CT and MA players meet up there for tourneys and we have a strong GG scene in this region, I’m sure it’d pick up well.

makes me wish there were a good arcade in the boston area.

that long drive is kind of a pain.

So is GG, a lot of non GG players still look at GG as a Anime/Otaku Fighter way before BB.

I mean

A Pirate loli that uses an Anchor
A Boy that dresses like a Nun that battles with a Yo Yo
Ky that looks like a chick
Slayer which his design is just the guy from Giant Robo
Dizzy

You can’t get more Anime-like fighter than that.

but unlike BB, guilty gear’s character designs were good.

I forget who first said this but: It’s like BB’s characters were designed by a 16 year old anime fan.

Aside from like… 2 characters, they all look pretty crap imo. But given the guilty gear team’s pedigree of making fun, interesting, and balanced (mostly) fighters, I’m still very excited for this game.

gota get in contact with chinatownfair in ny. they will prolly want a bb machine in there

Damn, I want to play this and SFIV so bad! after tasting them at evo I feel like when I was a kid waiting for new fighters to come out.

Yeah I agree GG’s character designs were alot better, simply because they took influences from so many sources. Alot of effort was put into them.

but I don’t think that’s something we need in a fighting game. I mean the way I see it, the Blaze Blue characters were designed around certain playstyles and movesets they wanted to put in. Not really to be good characters.

and the result is a game with what seems to be a very diverse and fun roster of characters that, imo, are more interesting from a gameplay standpoint than alot of characters in Guilty Gear.

and I mean at the end of the day, I don’t play fighting games for well designed detailed characters and good story mode. I play for interesting and unique gameplay. and so far the BlazBlue dudes seem to deliver.

We’ve been in contact with Chinatown Fair, the guy there is trying to convince his owner to buy BB. But its looking really good for CF. I’m going to hit up Tokyo Game Action today

Regarding the character design discussion that has been going on, I personally feel both titles look unique in its own right. GG and BB were design so it looks like you’re playing an anime fighting game. Come’on folks, have you not seen the vids on Youtube? Its freakin gorgeous and in HD! If you were expectin realistic character design, you might as well look at Tekken and VF

I just have a question: we will have to see yet some stages?

I love me some robots and bears.

Yeah I seriously don’t see how both games differ in character design as far as quality goes. People say BB looks like it was designed by a 15 otaku…what the hell does even mean? Other than implying that all 15 otakus are inexperienced artists ( fallacy ). I like BlazBlue’s character designs just fine, I think there are similarities but since when was that a bad thing? And if it is, why? You trying to tell me Ragna’s design doesn’t look cool as fuck because it looks like Sol-lite? Okay, but that’s not really saying anything.

Anyway, none of that matters, this game will have its scene and AC will still have its scene, don’t let this turn into a ST vs 3S thing.

Noone’s saying much of anything.

Some of us think the character designs suck, and other people think we can’t be allowed to think that, and then other people think the designs are fine. There’s not much of an argument until that middle ground starts up.

;p

The character designs don’t really suck…they just suck in comparison to GG.

half truth, the bb designs arent so cool if we compare them with gg, but they arent so flat and tasteless compared to other games (im looking you ah, and the new chars of sf4… so unnisnpired :shake:), still even when i already seen this archetypes, im really hyped for this game :woot:, as ChopperMan said, in the end we play the games for the experience (gameplay, desing, music and story are part of that, more for some people than others) and in this case bb is a the 2008 fighting game of the year

edit

btw aksys, i need some hd trailers to endure this wait :lovin:

I don’t see how the designs in BB are worse than GG…

GG doesn’t have anything near as cool as Taokaka.

BB is more cartoony and more stylized. It feels like Soul Eater in that the characters aren’t spectacularly overdone, but are still hella cool for some unknown reason.

These character designs are actually very good. If you think they suck, then go and make your own highly superior characters and show them. I’ll bet you it’s all subjective.

BB also wins points IMO for having likeable non-human characters who actually look like non-humans. I mean Arakune is awesome and Taokaka is the coolest take on a cat-girl I’ve ever seen in a fighting game.
