Well, Guilty Gear II Overture just came out. They obviously have interest in the system. Add to that the fact that Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is going to be put up on the Xbox Originals download service, and there is some clear intent there from the company.
But to be fair, after GG2’s numbers came out, they may be a bit gun shy about any future releases.
I think this will be probably be a test before taking the Guilty Gear series into XXX (next gen) on the Taito Tpe X2. Saying that they may never release GGXXX, but if they were making a giant hardware change it would be better to get more used to it by experimenting a little bit.
As for this game, it’s too early to make any judgement on it. To be honest I feel like they’ve held on to SBX for too long, will it be over shadowed by this game? I hope not…
I’m a bit concerned with that too, even though HnK was able to coexist with GG, one was an established scene while the other was brand new. In this case both are brand new. I’m hoping the both receive equal attention, how awesome would that be?
I’m not sure that Daisuke being horny for Xbox Live really translates into ASW as a whole being excited about the Xbox 360. Since they have basically zero interest in the American market, developing stuff for the Xbox 360 is pretty much lulz all around. Sure, it’s dominating the NA market at the moment, but if they are only releasing stuff in the JP market, who cares? I mean, you notice how many different companies have licensed the overseas releases over the last few years? If I’m to believe GameFAQs, ASW didn’t even publish the (Japanese) Xbox version of Guilty Gear XX#Reload; Microsoft did. Clear intent from ASW? wut? Yes, they can’t wait to get a vice like grip on the 500k Japanese people who for some bizarre reason bought an Xbox 360.
If they had American offices or a more permanent relationship with any American publisher beyond “hey if you license the game you can translate it and stuff but it’s basically your responsibility and don’t forget to pay us”, then maybe they’d be more psyched about the Xbox 360. As it is, uh… There’s nothing logical to support that, at all.
Gamefaqs is wrong in this case. Sammy handled the publishing.
As for your other points - all I was doing was highlighting an obvious fact that seemed to get overlooked… Guilty Gear II Overture and Guilty Gear XX #Reload coming to the Xbox 360 was an obvious sign that there was enough interest from the company (even if it was being directed by Daisuke’s hard-on for the console) to release something on it. I don’t think its a testament to any future support due to the sales numbers from Overture (as I said), but to completely rule out the console is extremely premature at this point. Heck, even with the Sony PDF, talking about an arcade game that hasn’t even been released yet coming to any console is pretty premature.
Looks nice, but if this is going to be higher res than GG, why aren’t we getting screenshots in its native resolution?
Japanese sites seem to be really bad about that stuff generally… it took Gamespot to show the new SF4 screens in their native res. Kinda hard to tell exactly how good it will look when all the screens are scaled down.
Wow. Looks like I might have to play this game. Even if the character design seems less inspired than Guilty Gear, it looks tight as hell. That clock stage is siiiiick
