I’m glad we in this forum - are as dedicated to our 2D cause as we are. It is through avenues like these ; developers will not ignore the elephant in the room that is the 2D fighting game community. These are among the western forums that they check .keep up the good input fellas . They are listening!!!

why do all the characters look like GG characters, right down to the color schemes?
Why do a whole lot of Capcom characters look the same, right down to some times having the same types of moves?
Why do a lot of SNK fighting game characters have a lot in common with each other too, for that matter?

Well there are designs that are far, far worst. Story wise, I say they aren’t trying at all.
I think the problem is that a lot GG players like the unique look/abilities of the GG cast and BB doesn’t look like it can rival/surpass that. In short GG screwed over BB. I know people expect more but I knew long ago that ASW will have a lot of trouble topping the cast of GG.
Truth, it’s possible but damn will it be hard for them to pull it off.
please show me a capcom or snk fighting game that has as many characters in it that look as remarkably similar to characters from another franchise by the same company as the characters we’ve seen from blazeblue so far do

And its funny no one ever thought that since GG is so successful,ASW might be trying to ease the transition from one game to the next?
uh im pretty sure they’re just updating GG so it doesnt fall behind in the graphics department and using old characters because the last time they’ve taken risks it wasnt as commercially successful as GG.
this is pretty much GGX3 because everyone’s moved onto GGXX resolution or better. whats the point of moving onto new graphics without doing something newish. GGAC kinda hit its limit.

This is the way that I’m seeing it. If BB is going to be the “new” flagship for Arc System Works (debatable, but you never know), I think that it would be best suited for them to make it as familiar as possible while implementing the changes they have been wanting to make to the standard GG engine.
But we’ll see. I think that its parallels to Guilty Gear actually do seem to support the theory that Arc Sys is wanting BB to become their new 2D fighting franchise.

Actually GG’s story is quite interesting. There just is a lack of info that’s all. If anything GG has the BEST story of any FG to date. People really do want to see GG’s story progress and see how it all ends. I say its a lack of info that causes people to bash on GG’ s story. Really what FG has so much of its cast actually doing something(that doesn’t revolve around some tourney)?
BB’s story sound’s similar to GG cuz one powerful being beating people all on his own(Sol). A skinny blonde dude who is head of some big military(ky/Holy Knights). MAGIC being used for something bad(Assassins), big major war(Crusades). Which I might is still better than most stories in FGs period. I know, I know. Who cares about the story right?
I dunno, characters look cool to me. Yeah it’s a bit rehash but originality is a tough customer, hit or miss…where as dipping into the well of “What is cool and what people respond well to” is a much easier course to take. It’s trying trying, it’s still taking a risk, but it’s a smarter choice.

GG1 and GG2 (and the fact that he apparently prefers the story told in those two to any of the X/XX stuff) pretty much prove that Daisuke couldn’t write a good story if Hemingway’s head was growing out of his shoulder. A lot of the concepts are cool, but the actual execution of the story is lol. (Also, I just have to wtf at Jam. She wants the money for a restaurant? Are you fucking serious? And then it gets destroyed and she somehow doesn’t have enough money to just rebuild it? How goddamn expensive could restaurants possibly be in the GG universe!? That all ranks way up there in the “shitty motivation for a fighting game character” department.) But, you know, he couldn’t possibly be good at EVERYTHING. I mean, think about everything else he did that was badass with regards to GG, and just be amazed by that (and plead with him to let someone else write the story).
I do agree it’s probably the best story in any fighting game, but uhhh… that’s like winning the special olympics. Seriously. Though, I don’t think there’s really a lack of info. Especially not with all the drama CDs that are out. >.>
