At 100 or even 50 yen a play, along with vending machines, I’m sure any arcade in a populated area makes back WAY more than they spend.
People are suggesting taking out the rock themes, and that it doesn’t suit gg? Hip Hop soundtrack? Oh lawd, I don’t even wanna bother with this one.
My personal opinion on GG music is that it’s extremely irritating, but I don’t really like rock music but it fits the theme of the characters and the storyline. All that aside, in terms of presentation all those things work for GG. As much as I like hip-hop it wouldn’t fit in either GG or Blazblue…
Slayer better be in this. I mean he is fucking immortal so why not?
Well, isn’t that kind of a no-brainer?
I mean, let’s be honest, a lot of the Capcom stuff played similarly to each other as well; it was just a few twists and turns that made each thing more or less have its own distinct flavor. I mean sure, Vampire/Darkstalkers, Marvel and later Street Fighter games all come from the same basic model that SF2 started, but they all developed into their own beasts.
With ASW now having GG, HnK and soon, Basara and BlazBlue, I think we’ll see the same thing here too.
Way too soon to ask, in my opinion. The game’s not even out officially in arcades yet.
Furthermore, the PS3 thing is a RUMOR. We have no proof that this game is going to the PS3 yet.
…and confidentially, I wouldn’t be surprised if this ended up being a PS2 title instead, what with the 480p sprites and 780p BGs sounding more like Arcana Heart than anything else.
Read Saotome’s post over the last page.
This is NOT related to GG. AT ALL. The whole “ten years later” thing has long since been de-bunked, and it’s now proven that the game does not take place in the same universe.
So, in essence, it’s time to let go. Don’t expect to see Sol Badguy up and say “Yare yare daze” any time soon.
Why do people keep asking for GG characters to be included when this game is unrelated?
That doesn’t sound unrelated to me.
Slayer is one of the few good characters Arc has created. They may not have a shining moment like that again. Then normal people will be left with nothing.
I hope a lot of you guys don’t scare people away like you did with pre-AC Guilty Gear.
The theory was effectively proven false.
Well, that doesn’t mean they aren’t related. It just means nobody knows anything yet. The rest of my post still makes sense when ignoring that part at least.
You lost me…
:shake:
…
What more do you guys need from people who can translate the article, due to them knowing Japanese or translate with 80-99% fluency?
BB != GG, any more than Darkstalkers is to Street Fighter or Samurai Shodown is to Last Blade.
Get over it, already. They’re two completely different products, taking place in two different realities.
Man the shit I miss out on at work, look niiiiiice!..SBX and this? My plate’s gonna be pretty full for a while.
I posted a hefty chunk of info over at Dustloop yesterday, but I can’t get the forums to load atm, so I’ll have to summarize.
The game has a similar timeframe as the Guilty Gear series (BB is set in December 2199 A.D., while the GG series takes place from about 2180 to 2185 A.D.), but apart from that, there is nothing at all indicating that they’re connected. There’s no similar terminology, no mention of Gears or Crusades, or anything else like that.
The plot of Blazblue/BlazBlue (pronounced Blay-blue, or Bureiburuu in Japanese), is still a bit hard for me to make out thanks to the crappy image quality.
It appears to involve some massive global government called the (roughly translated) “Earth and Space Information Control System”, which more literally translated would be something like, “World Space Information Regulation Organization” (which is a mouthful, to say the least), or simply, “Sekai Kokuu Jouhou Tousei Kikou”. Don’t worry, it’s normally truncated to just, “Control System”, or if you prefer the Japanese terminology, “Tousei Kikou”.
As for the characters, the main Sol-like character is named Ragna the Bloodedge (As in Ragnarok, as opposed to Laguna; that’s how I’m opting to romanize it until something official rolls along). He’s apparantly extremely strong, and is behind some sort of operation to weild absolute power over the world, as far as I can make out. As such, he has rebelled against the Control System, which has returned the favore by placing a bounty for his elimination into effect into pretty much all areas that they branch out to. He’s known to the public as the “God of Death”, or “Shinigami”, fights with powerful, pressuring attacks, and his EX move, “Souleater”, allows him to drain his opponents physical strength. Oh, and he’s voiced by the same guy that does “That Man” in GG2.
Jin Kisaragi, the Ken to Ragna’s Ryu, the Ky to his Sol, is a retainer of the powerful Kisaragi family, which has ties to the Control System. He’s a Major in their military, and formerly rose through the ranks due to his sparkeling military record during the Ikaruga Civil War which broke out in his youth. He’s ambitious, jealous, possessive, and cares little for other people. In other words, he’s a dick. He’s got a variety of swordplay techniques and is said to have a lot of anti-air attacks, and his EX move, “Reikou (Zero Sword)”, allows him to freeze his opponents with the “Frostbite” effect.
Noel Vermillion is Jin’s direct subbordinate, and was chosen as such because she showed amazing battle ability and had good operation evaluations. The two sort of knew each other back in the officer’s academy, but she considered Jin to be weak. That is, until the Control System handed them down a certain mission, during which she changed her opinion. She has a lot of gun tricks and uses something I’ve seen called the “Gun Kata Style”, and her EX move, “Chain Revolver”, basically allows her to string together gunshots in combos, and can also be used together by pushing the joystick in different directions.
Awesome. Good to see you here, Suzaku.
Suzaku I posted your info a few pages back, sorry.
In any case, interesting character concepts and storyline, even if the characters themselves don’t seem all that interesting through their designs. ^^;
When this game does get a proper home console port, I’m sure they’ll probably give us a nice “Story mode” of some sort to go along with these new characters…
I’m not going to lie this game just made me buy a PS3.
Dude, what home console it’ll be ported hasn’t even been confirmed yet.
