I just played the game with my bro and it was pretty fun, even though I was playing like a total scrub. Just goes to show how decent one could be at one point then complete trash later on. lol. It’s all good. And it’s good that it’s a Southtown Syndicate thread and not just back for SFIV. Maybe Geese will post now.
Well, the only time I go to arcades nowadays is for tournaments, or if I’m around Little Tokyo or LACC, then Japan Arcade and Family Arcade it is! I’m not playing online anymore since I can’t find any matches unless it’s with friends. What up, Muzikal!!!??? What up, Willy!!!??? So I’m down to get practice at someone’s pad. The next question is what is going to be done about tournaments since they’ll have to be on console? Will arcades host these console tournaments? Denjin already does it for HD Remix. We’ll just have to wait and see.
SSFIV probably doesn’t matter much to Muffin Man since he doesn’t care about the game. btw, NorCal regionals next month. CvS2 and Tekken 6 are in.
Hey there guys I know I’m a noob around here since I’m an 09’er but if you guys would let me have a chance to speak out and be heard that would be great. I’m planing on having casuals in LA at least every Friday or Saturday that I get a chance to host them. I am sending Southtown Syndicate an invite since all of you are in the LA area and inviting you to come play. I am getting back into the scene myself and would like to get better again. I will be running SF4 on PS3 and Third Strike and CvS2 on Dreamcast. The invite is there for anyone here to come join. Fridays and Saturdays are ideal for us. Set up the time and day and I’m sure half of us will be down to play. Where in LA are u located?
Ever since Willy stopped organizing casuals, we really haven’t been meeting up. The only place that’s keeping it alive is Super Melgarios - haha, which is at JC’s pad with his last SF cabinet :wonder: I’m sure when ssf4 comes, out we are going to get more into it.
Im located by the 10 and 60 next to Cal State LA. From the looks of it too it seems sometime next week I’ll organize casuals that will be held weekly so by all means come on down. As for a time around like 6 or 7pm for start time till whenever.
Well I think we might only need one stick, I have someone coming who said they had one so yeah. But yeah if anyone has two they can bring I would gladly appreciate it.

Well, these are the requirements:
You have to go to a tournament and smack one of the top players and take a picture of it.
You have to be able to play more than 3 SF games
If you play more than 2 KoF games, you’re automatically banned
Your Sagat skills have to be better than your Super Mario Bros. skills, and your Super Mario Bros. skills have to be better than your Pitfall skills. If you’re too young to know what Pitfall is, then you’re automatically disqualified for admission.
You have to be able to take a shot of Tequila, Vodka, Gin, and Rum back to back without puking. So many Southtown members failed this the first time, but eventually go it.

Nah, actually, we don’t have any requirements since there is no admission. lol. Southtown began as a video game crew back in the day, originally with Geese and me. We brought other people into the crew, but once the tournament scene started dying out, we found ourselves kicking it more as friends rather than Street Fighter acquaintances. So Southtown is now an exclusive group of friends rather than Street Fighter players, so it was around 2005 where I stopped bringing anybody else into the crew.
I just realized that there aren’t really anymore crews representing in the Street Fighter scene like the way it was a decade ago. It’s become more of an nWo thing where if you go to a specific arcade, then that’s your crew. So there aren’t any crews aside from that. Maybe the nWo analogy wasn’t all that great, but nonetheless, there aren’t crews representing. We just here, “Oh, he plays at A.I.” or “He plays at Denjin” or “He’s from this region.”
Dude I was looking forward to taking all those shots haha. Also my Super Mario skills are non existent, I got mad Sonic the Hedgehog skills instead.
But I hear what your saying and yeah all I hear is the whole “I’m from this arcade” and what not. It’s not how it was years ago and I can remember back when the scene was in my opinion pretty awesome. But if there is a chance I can be apart of Southtown Syndicate I would gladly appreciate it as to me still being in a crew is a big thing in the gaming community.
Looks like every one are serious about this gathering. Lets have the time and date setup, I can make it at 9th, 10th, 11th. need to run some errand here and there, but not a big deal.
And what is the deal of dreamcast? I though other than MVC2, most fighting game work same on ps2.
I trade my Mas stick to MuffinMan, now I have no dreamcast stick any more @_@;
Alright guys well it seems like the gathering day might be the 9th or 10th at about 6pm or 7pm. As far as the dreamcast goes deadend well you see I never bought a PS2 I stuck it through with my dreamcast till a few months ago when I got a PS3 but I still keep on using my dreamcast cuz its my beloved system of all time.
I will most likely be able to do Friday. I want to rest up Saturday night for Bar Fights on Sunday. I’ll try to see about bringing my PS2. It’s the old school, first version one, but I got CvS2 and I’ll see about bringing a couple of Hori sticks.
Do we have confirmation on our first casual get together? Looks like we got a few interested players in here. I as well will be goin to Bar Fights II on Sunday, so it would be nice for us to get some introduction gaming in beforehand.
Also, I’ve sent some invites to members of Southtown Syndicate join our social group, Team Omega, so we can keep tabs on when we get these new casuals (location, date, and time) goin.
