Hey, I’m probably going to be headed to my first tournament soon in Texas Showdown. Can anyone give me a rundown on the Texas Marvel scene? I’m going to be picking up a new team to prepare and I need to know what characters I should expect to see.

We mostly play Hsien-ko, Ironman and Ghost Rider. You’d be amazed at their synergy.

If anyone is free this sunday, a gaming club at UH is hosting a LoL/SCII tournament with a fighting game section. Feel free to come out and bring set-ups as well! The games available at the tournament will be SF4 and UMVC3. Xbox 360 will be used for both games and food and drinks will be provided after paying for entry fee. Texas Showdown is TOMORROW. On site registration ends tomorrow night, so if you’re going you better be there tomorrow and get registered. Full game and stream schedule listed below. Good luck to all the players, and good luck to the organizers. I hope it is a great turnout and tournament so that Showdown can become a big force in the national tournament scene.

Is there an arcade anywhere in this city that hasn’t been closed down???
I don’t know of any open arcades, no. There’s a place called Insomnia that hosts weeklies on Friday (free, 7-12 PM) and Tuesday ($5, 7-3 PM-AM) and a tournament every Saturday.

I live only a couple miles from the Galleria, but
does anyone from SRK actually play there?
Last time I went to tilt all their machines were straight up tarnished, SFIV especially. To begin with the machine had what I believed was custom controls, as tapping mp or mk would either taunt or FA. I also recall other moves being switched around. What’s more, just lying your hand on the cabinet made it pick up inputs. MvC2 had some problems too iirc.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend Tilt.
I spoke with the guy that runs the place and he confirmed that they are
open late only for Fighters… $5 entry is no problem. I’ll be there around
midnight-thirty, it would be cool to meet some of the Houston crowd…
Whoa, saw some great fights last night.
Houston fighters definitely have some skill.
Insomnia is pretty awesome, had a great time.
Chris (who runs the place) is awesome too.
Sadly, the days/hours are the exact opposite of what I need,
so I won’t be able to make it up there very often.
Anyone up for some games on Mondays?
How was the turnout? I’ve never been to a local here.
