This is were im confused again, I had Neo current top mvc2 player and Reset Og top player at cali vs texas and that wasnt considered a major? Even alex valle stickied my thread because it met the requirements of being a major but yet people took it as it wasnt?o_O

I could throw a $2000 dollar tournament from my apartment and it wouldn’t mean shit if no one was there.
Tournaments like NCR, Season’s Beatings, Devastation and the like are considered majors for a reason. They have a significantly large turnout that includes enough top players for that to be a draw in itself.
And, of course they have large cash payouts.
It’s good that you can throw big tournaments and get some of the players that have been here to come, but there’s still a long way to go before you can consider it a major.
Sure you can put up a few thousand and get Justin Wong or a nigga from Japan to come but it takes more than that…

O.Red: I can see your point. Well I have a major im working on that will be once a year and probably be 2 day event. Sat and Sun. Im not making it out to monsters 2nite because im getting the logo made and have to submit the image to get copyrighted so there are no issues in the future. So far it looks sick so once its done, ill post it up along with more info.
Alot of people have to enter the tournament and two guest players isn’t enough. Arkansas is trying but they aren’t there yet, at best Ark was a regional. Ored is right(for once)

It always seems to me in every community that Texas is disjointed for some reason. Is it because our cities are so far away from each other (in relation to other states)? I’m not sure that’s true because the NE seems to travel a lot. It doesn’t even have to be Houston, but if Texas in general can get their stuff together and run one huge event, I’m sure it will get enough noise to garner people traveling for it.

Most of them have the thing is every once in a while some bs involving PZ (wether it’s there fault or not) comes along and the argument begins it happens just don’t let this reflect on the scene.
Go out there and see what they do is all I can say because these guys do help I would join as well but work has never been kind I need a vacation :(.

Jan: I believe once more games come out, attendence will skyrocket and a major will pop off. I was looking at Texas Showdown results and the attendence for each game was bananas. I think we dont have that many hungry players like as it was back in the day. I think Sf x Tekken will be huge and could have a big community. At first the game looked weird but now seeing some of the polished character models, game actually has life in my eyes. I believe kensou will be one of the top players in that game that will rep houston hardcore. He has the potential to being a sick player at that game as he proved it at evo with them 120+ wins. Im looking forward to playing it seeing those new modes they added. I was also a sf alpha fan and a huge fan of dramatic mode. Should be interesting how it develops and brings new faces to the scene.
