If we want to repair our rep than it’s up to us. What happened with the qual is unfortunate, it seems like PZ was trying to do right. Sad to say that people will probably not change their opinions of them. I think PZ can be involved with our scene but can’t represent it. The players have to express themselves with respect to the various venues in town. These weeklies and events exist for our own improvement and enjoyment. As long as the businesses and the players are BOTH happy at the end of the day then everything is alright.
Houston has no major for fighting games right now. What needs to happen is Texas Showdown 7, but unless Ranma wakes up that’s not gonna happen. But if it did it would have EVERYONES support.
I like how a few people make claims about the Houston scene and never show up to anything. I would understand if you were cold enough to beat down everyone in the scene and you just didn’t like the attitude of the players but that is not the case. You guys choose to stay home instead of coming out and play and then make these long posts expressing opinions that don’t reflect reality. We have players that are hungry and are improving. It would be a win win for everyone involved. Will is whatever but Kensou….

Ahem … Trashday… But I do agree with you Jan we should pull together as a community to support any major that is thrown in Houston. I find it quite odd that we have some of the highest level player base in the world in various games but cant pull numbers like Devastation or NEC for our majors… Now I dont know how the 2d communities view Houston scene in terms of tournaments but the general consensus is a negative one for what I’ve observed. I think the best way to remedy this is to throw a major with HUGE payouts. I would be willing to add money from my own pocket to this if it meant we could bring the numbers necessary. Not those nickel and dime Texas Showdown payouts
And Will, not to troll you or anything but your points fall on deaf ears because
- You suck at fighting game
- You dont go to tournaments
- You speak nonsense a good 65% of the time I’m being VERY generous here
You must transcend beyond the before mentioned things stated above if you want people to actually hear you. Until you do, The community as a whole will just ignore your sayings as simply a scrubs rambling.
This happens every 6 months or so.
