I agree with raph, i did not read what u said and wont. I will say this, read what i said to raph and it clearly says im not going back and forth or making this a discussion on here. What i said wasnt hate, it was the truth. Hate is when you say things that are not true and have some sort of jealousy towards the person or business. Stuff like this affects houston as a whole cause when anybody decides to throw any major tournament people look at it as to were is it being held at, they say houston, hmmm i wonder if its associated with pz in any way. It took 3+ years for me to build Test Your Skills and never once money came up as an issue. Thats why the out of towners were questioning how well cali vs texas would do when i did it. People wanted to know will Neo/Cali really take home the 2000$ in the money match that was promised or will there be some shady shit that might take place due to “houstons past history”. If you read the results thread there are 6-15 states that want to come to cali vs texas 2 due to the fact that everything went well and nobody got burned and all players got paid. Why do you think devry university wants to sponsor the next major i hold along with sour punch and other sponsors. Again, Take the post how you take it, doesnt matter to me. I just wanted people to know that not everywere in houston is shady. If you or anyone felt offended by my post im willing to talk more about it. Ill be at smileys on wed so whatever else you have to say can be said there. What would be the point? So that the attendance of a local tournament which you don’t attend could rise by 10 or so more players? So you could have them answer who is the best Akuma in Houston, you or Adeel? So Monsters could pay unnecessary amounts of money to fly them out here and house them just to give them more money in a tournament so you can get a hardon about being around a “Japanese” player? If you want to meet a Japanese player, go to japan or attend a major.
Cali Vs Texas 1 was a major. Cali flew down here and we had over 150 people in attendance. The next one will be next year. Im in talks with vitamin water right now and trying to figure out what they want to sponsor. Should be good either way.

I guess a “major” tournament for the Houston scene, but even if there were 150 people in attendance (100 of them were probably smash players) it would still be a semi-major at best. You can’t just call a tournament a major, the tournament has to earn that title.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a drop in attendance at both Monster’s and Smileys. PZ has had a drop too so I’m quite sure all 3 places aren’t mercy of that at all. Even you yourself don’t really play. Most times you’re there playing MAGIC, I don’t fault you but I believe Will is speaking on the attendance of both SF players and perhaps the general attendance overall. Just because you’re there doesn’t really amount to much if you’re not playing SF4 to him is what I think he means and I can understand that. But on the flip side it is showing support after all and I believe that is a good thing for sure.
On the note about what’s the point? I’m sorry homie but I gotta put you on notice for a second there. FIRST OFF, prior to the current state of affairs we’ve HAD JP players here in Houston before the link up with PZ and after.

The point is to do what any OTHER event does, bring foreign comp to the states to increase attendance, hype, give players and experience they haven’t had before, introduce OTHER LESSER known players to bring them into the lime light. I mean the list goes on, so saying that what’s the point is absolutely absurd. Now maybe what should’ve been said was, “Well right now Monsters nor Smileys can do that now because it doesn’t have the credibility or the credentials necessary to make something like that happen at this point.” I’d have taken that as opposed to the latter statement.You watch streams so you know what the point of it all is. And for the record, I’m sure you’d like some kind of recognition on your skilled play much like any other player be it from Momochi, Sako, Mago, Combofiend, Valle, to freaking Justin. It doesn’t matter, recognition is recognition and everyone likes it to whatever degree, so it’s quite unfair to ridicule Will like that.

Dropped in to say too many post 2008 posters to feel like that. As far as majors go texas hasnt had a major tournament since texas showdown. All of the other tournaments have been just been tourneys. Majors imply that it is held every year and attendance is more out of state than local comp. The attendance thing has more to do with internets role on gaming than a reflection on any one place. I know for one NAH is strong for the og players right now. Alot of the newer players come in seem like with a chip on their shoulder. Some of the newer players who have been around for more than a year can even start to see why og players behave the way they do perfect example you have codylegend. Man may have wanted to only come out and play to try and get better but approached it all wrong instead lost money for no reason to finally say what he really came out for in the first place which is he just wants to get better.

Also, I guess my major needed to be considered a monthly even though i had people flying out here from cali right and 6-15 states want to come to Cali Vs Texas 2? Oh ok so TYS 12 had 250 people in attendence, the biggest to this date/150 for smash and 100 for TYS. Cali Vs Texas 1 had 150 people/75 for smash and 75 for TYS. Oh ok I got it now. If 1000 people show up to TYS they gonna say that wasnt a major because a jap or a top player wasnt there. Boys never give credit when its due but its all good though…

Nah, I’m gonna clarify that. Codylegend basically has been to Monsters before but stopped going despite me constantly inviting him to come out. He gave me this whole speech about how he’s won tournaments in Houston (really?) and has beaten numerous people in money matches. It got even more outta hand when he was talking about how Gene’s Makoto is trash and how he doesn’t know how me and others in the community play or are in terms of skill level…but “dude’s trash”. He went on about Pcutta also saying his Sakura is trash and even said Madoc is “aight”. lol He said he would money match folks and went on about how an online player can come offline and dominate. He came to Monsters and everyone knows how that went. If I didn’t throw him a bone in the first money match, he would’ve lost every one of those and wouldn’t ever come to anything else offline. Instead, his experience at Monsters proved my argument with him about online meaning nothing in terms of offline play (although some of it kinda factors in but not much). He had no agenda to get better because his perception was that he was already one of the best if not the best in Houston before stepping foot back in Monsters. His agenda might have changed now but his ego is still a lil outta control. He posted his matches but lied about his second MM with Jan. He said that he beat Jan in a Cody mirror MM ft3 and didn’t record it. That shit didn’t happen. lol
In terms of what else was said…Will, use spell check or something cause you misspelled a whole bunch of shit in your tirade in addition to the punctuation (which I’m giving you a pass on). My thing is that I don’t know how you can speak on the scene when you aren’t active in it (you don’t show up to stuff).
With regards to Japs and other “top” players coming out here, I’d like to play anyone. However, I’m not gonna act like a fan or anything of that nature cause they’re human like me. It’s too much Jap and “top” player dick-licking going on in the fighting game community as a whole. Just open up a gay brothel if you wanna get your slurp on.
