The music is terrible ambient noise that doesnât fit the game at all. Not memorable in the slightest.
They made him worse. Terrible boss fight and his character has been reduced to pessimistic loner so they can push the âTRUE POWER OF FRIENDSHIPâ theme even harder.
Sonic Team is apparently working on something new so letâs hope it manages to repair the damage caused by this mess.
Shadow has always been that way though? Heâs a fucking awful character in every regard.
Shadow was never a loner. He is always paired with Rouge and Omega in the games heâs a main character.
And so the cycle begins once more
there is always that one hater coffee, anywho at least back up in context why that is the case and no I am not being bias just because I like the character
Shadowâs initial debut did not receive a lukewarm reception at the time because he was brand new and pretty much labeled a clone because he was a âblack sonicâ; his character design alone is what sold me on SA2. Hover skates? (was playing JSR at the time) powers out the ass? dark past? this was sonic team taking the series in a new direction but they did not want to make him too OP hence why he only had 4 stages (smh sonic had like 8?). He had a purpose of being the way he was after the shit he seen; best friend suddenly dying? best friends research lab being destroyed out the blue from a raid operation? thats dark as hell and it was a fresh direction for the series, Its his development after SA2 that affected him. Shadow the hedgehog the game had some interesting theories and explanations but too many plotholes and inconsistencies which made the game a mess story wise.
Oh come on. The Sonic Cycle hasnât been true for years now. This one game comes out and is a massive fuckup, sure, but heâs had four years of solid games before this one. Thereâs still some magic left. Have faith.
Eh. That back story isnât really all that dark. And Iâve never liked shadow. I thought his design was bad. His backstory is bad. His crew is pretty much filler characters. Why did he need rocket skates? Why did he need a gun and a jeep? Itâs all just so stupid.
Sonic Adventures was the death of sonic to me. It just added so much stuff that wasnât needed and did more harm than good. A lot of stuff they still continue to use which is why they still continually make bad games, horrible new characters and horrible new story lines.
Thereâs almost a sweet kind of irony in a game about the fastest thing alive being rushed to the point that itâs unplayable.

Sonicâs friends havenât been playable in a main game since 06. âContinually make bad gamesâ? Give me a break. Sonicâs had years of decent games before this Boom crap showed up.
Itâs easy to be cynical about this sort of thing but I thought every game up to Shadow the Hedgehog was fun. Not mechanically perfect but still enjoyable in a stupid manner if you just inhale all the campiness about them. Games donât necessarily have to be bug free in order to be good, sometimes they can actually contribute to the enjoyment of a game (like in GTA 4). Itâs only when they start interfering with the gameplay that they become bad. And even though a lot of people didnât like the friendsâ gameplay in SA1, at least Sonic Team tried to do something ambitious with it. I kinda wish theyâd do it again with the main series.
Colors an Generations were great. Lost World was decent too. Everything between SA1âSonic Colors werenât worth playing unless it was Sonic Advanced or Sonic Rush. And even then only sonic advanced was the better of the 2. sonic rush gave us blaze.
Bleh.
At this point, the Sonic franchise has been below average to complete ass for far longer than it was greatâŚ
Thatâs just sad.

Why is it everyone gets so damn negative whenever a bad Sonic comes out, saying that itâs always been like this? It hasnât.
Sonic 1 was great. sonic 2, 3, CD and S&K were masterpieces. 3D blast and all the game gear games were barely playable.
Sonic Advanced and Sonic Rush series were OK.
Sonic Adventures was dead in the water. It was outdated before it even came out. The controls were bad, it looked bad, sounded bad, played bad and introduced a lot of mechanics, characters and gameplay styles that werenât needed.
Sonic 06 was garbage.
Unlesshed? Dumb. Oh cool, half the game is playable (Day Stages). That doesnât make it good.
Secret Ring was bad and gave us Silver. Fuck secret ring.
sonic and the black knight was grasping at straws.
Sonic 4 was a very nice attempt at an apology but the game was just ultimately bad. The best part about the game (homing mechanic) ended up being the worst part about it.
I could keep going. But I wonât.
It wasnt until Sonic Colors that the series was showing life again. sonic colors was great.
Sonic Generations was what Sonic Adventure should have been.
Lost Worlds was really good. Very similar to colors but a better story.
And then we get boom. Which has surpassed 06 in how bad a game can truly be.
So think about when sonic cd was made. And think about when colors was made. Thatâs a lot of shitty titles. And now sonic is back at square one due to Boom.
It turns out that eggman was never the true enemy of sonicâŚit was sega all along

I wholeheartedly disagree. I didnât have any issues with the controls when the game came out and the soundtrack was excellent so it didnât sound bad either. I think what people tend to forget is that it was meant to be an âadventureâ, an epic story that involved multiple characters, and while it was hamfisted in its execution with lots of physics quirkiness, it was still enjoyable. I appreciate how ambitious they were with the game and would like to see them take another stab at that in the future. The DX rereleases had more bugs than the original version so I tend to think that skews peopleâs opinions of it.
Also, I think Racing Transformed deserves mention as another good game bearing the Sonic label. Even though it wasnât strictly a Sonic game, it was still the headliner brand title for the year it came out, and I dare say it was the best kart racer ever made, even better than any Mario Kart.
Finally, Silver didnât even appear in Secret Rings. His first appearance was in 06. So blame that game for his existence.
Play it again and see how you feel about adventure. Itâs bad. Sound tracks donât validate bad games. If it did every GTA game would be phenomenal.
