Sonic Boom Gamescom Trailer

Sonic Boom - Sonic Boom 14 Trailer

Sonic Boom TV - Sonic Boom 14 Trailer

The 2nd trailer has some footage of Shadow and Metal in it. Looks like you might be fighting Shadow at least once. Even if the games don’t perform well I think the TV show should be entertaining.

We began selling the Sonic Boom toys in my store already. When is the show suppose to launch?

Still haven’t said yet…They’ve just stated it will start in the Fall. My guess is that they’ll probably start it around the launch of the game.

Further trailers further confirming expectations. Probably won’t be as good as the better cartoons out right now like gumball or gravity falls, but should be mildly entertaining. Game will still probably be a’ight, I’m guessing it’ll be stupid easy, but that’s just what I’m feeling.

Knuckles is gonna be too good.

game looks terrible but then again you got to you look at its target audience, shadow…sonic kicking you into alternate dimensions n shit…sighs

show doesnt look too bad, I already spotted 2 adult references lol

I really want the sonic boom games to be good but I know they won’t be. :frowning:

I don’t agree with that list either. Swap S3&K and Sonic 2 along and get rid of both adventures completely.

Sonic and Megaman will be doing another crossover event next year in the comics.

Hotness. Worlds Collide was fun.

Also Sonic Universe at the moment is focusing on Shadow and Knux.

Gullible Butterfingers vs. Mr. Dark and Edgy

Wow, Sonic Boom is looking…
Well, I find it funny since this video made me laugh.

I don’t understand how anyone can be looking forward to Sonic Boom. And even as someone who watches a lot of gay shit (like, a lot of gay… a lot) such as myself, the tv show looks stupid as fuck. Eggman had a funny line or two in the trailer, but holy shit, nope, gonna pass on it.

The premises of the game is hilarious since it’s literally based off a sonic fanfic come to life but changing Sonic’s attitude to a more cocky version of some rejected character design off of dreamworks. At this point, he’s like the family dog who you know is very ill, but no one wants to put him down since the family loves him, but you know you have to. Seriously, the Sonic series needs to go. It’s done.

But then again, there’s the comics, so I dunno.

It looks like Jak and Daxter with some Sonic thrown in. I would rather a focus on platforming then combat but it doesn’t look awful to me. It’s a sub series so being experimental isn’t a bad thing.

It basically like the dude said in the video.
It’s like the game devs had an idea for a game and they were working on it, and Sega showed up and said “make it Sonic instead” which would make sense. It looks like the game has a lot of ideas implemented, but none of them flow together and kinda working as a cluster fuck without any supported structure.

I lost all hope a long time ago in a good sonic game by the Sonic Team… but I’ll keep coming back to see their next failed project.

From 3D-whatever came before Sonic colors were all bad. Everything Colors-On when it comes to console sonic has been pretty good (I’m not counting 4)

All the handheld sonics from gba-on were decent. A lot of people liked the Rush series. I actually liked the Bioware RPG.

They seem to be pushing metal sonic alot, he has been alot of games and media lately, i wonder what gives

All sonic 3Ds are bad. All of them.
They’ve upgraded from diarrhea to shit, but they are still shit. If you only look at them in terms of just Sonic games, they’ve improved in terms of making them less buggy and slightly awkward camera angles. If you compare them to all 3D platformers, they are still shit.

I had the chance to play the demos of both Sonic Boom games at NYCC. These are my impressions.

Wii U Game: The Wii U demo had you chose between three levels. A regular level, a boss fight and a speed level meant to serve as translations to the standard ones. I started with the regular level first that has you play as Sonic and Amy as they try to retrieve a crystal. It felt like your standard 3D platformer. If your familiar with how platformers like Jak and Daxter played then you’ll be right at home here. There’s a heavy focus on combat where you’ll need to defeat Robotnik’s robots to proceed to next area. Combat isn’t too bad. You have an attack button to do basic combos with, the laser whip thing you can use to draw enemies closer to you or throw them around them or you can fight them in classic Sonic fashion by using the spin dash and homing attack. All methods of combat were viable for taking out enemies in the demo though there was one particular enemy I needed to use the laser thing on before I could damage it. While going through the level was large enough to exploring. Straying from the main path could potentially land you in a secret room you can get rings, crowns and other collectibles. For alternate routes you’ll have to switch characters. Throughout the level I’ve noticed certain paths that can only be taken by specific by Sonic or Amy. Sonic had ramps he can launch himself from using the spin dash and pink colored bars for Amy she can use to hook her hammer on. Amy routes were a lot more platform orientated than Sonic’s which I found to be strange. Not a bad method to implement alternate paths I suppose. All the platform tropes were accounted for. During my playtime I noticed a couple of framerate drops in a couple of places. No idea what caused it but I hope it’s fixed when it releases next month

The speed levels could use some work. These levels are most faithful to Sonic’s roots and the controls were terrible. It found it difficult to steer Sonic while he was running. He doesn’t immediately respond to the direction your moving and I kept running right into the traps as a result. Maybe it’s just the demo but the level was completely linear. No alternate paths to take. Just running in the same straight line the whole way through. Big Red Button need to take some cues from Sonic Generation. The way they are now is shit.

3DS game: This one felt like a Sonic game. The best way I can describe it is that they took a 2D Sonic game and gave it metroidvania level design. Sonic is super quick and it controls very well here. You need to hold a button to run but I can forgive that. Sonic has a special dash that allows to break blue blocks. It seems this his character ability as Tails has hovering, Knuckles can burrow through the ground and Sticks got her boomerang. Outside of these skills all four play identically and you’ll need those skills if you want to complete the map. I’m a map completest when it comes to Metroidvania so It will take me a while to ever complete a single level. I like the platform puzzles in this game better. It handles them in the same fashion as Guacamelee but nowhere near as brutal. Of the two games I like this one the best.

This is probably old news around here by now, but tell me if this early 80s track sounds familiar to you all:

lol it kind of sounds like Ice Cap.

that’s my first time hearing this so…

I’ve never heard plagiarism this close before when it comes to music. Yea, plagiarism is rather common in music, and at times people can defend it. Other times, it becomes rather obvious (like stratovarius and dragon ball z), but even in those cases the songs can sound somewhat different. In this case, Ice Cape zone sounds EXACTLY like Hard Times, lol.

@PozerWolf‌

It’s actually not plagiarism. The Jetsons keyboardist Brad Buxer is a credited composer for Sonic 3. Buxer was a producer and composer that often worked with Michael Jackson and worked with him on composing Sonic 3 soundtrack. Popular belief is Buxer sampled Hard Times for Ice Cap.
