Sonic went from posing like a bad ass to wearing handkerchiefs and tape. There are clearly two different age groups they are trying to appeal to here. Sonic Boom is designed for 6 year olds, this is not the audience Sega should be going for. Nothing about the Boom design is even cool.

There was HUGE backlash against the SA series when that picture was first revealed because he didnât look like the previous Sonic from the Genesis generation. He is gullible, and the characters acknowledge that, but from Sonic Adventure - Heroes he had a calm and cool personality and the only trait they pushed about him that annoyed me was that he was a Treasure Hunter. Knuckles was similar to Piccolo in Adventure 2, he explained the history of the emeralds for everyone to understand. Shadow The Hedgehog he dropped the whole Treasure Hunter act, got a new voice actor and slowly started turning into âThe Idiotâ.

These are not radically different designs, and they donât betray anything about these characters. If anything they dial into key aspects of these characters, Ankle and wrist tape make sense Sonic is a speed runner who uses his hands for support when taking corners, the tape helps make sure he has the support he needs, Knuckles punches and climbs things it makes sense for him to have a strong upper body, Tails a mechanic, a billion pockets for tools and random shit makes sense. AmyâŚWell least sheâs not wearing mall wear into the jungle anymore.

Have we forgotten that Knuckles has the ability to glide, him being small was the whole point of his unique, Glide, Climb, and Power. Abilities. Pretty sure that was what Sega wanted him to do right from the start to make him different from Sonic and Tails.
