The Sonic the hedgehog thread V.7 2017 its been generations since the last good sonic game

You know, I haven’t played Sonic 06, but I can find it for like 5$ and I do wanna buy and play it for the shock factor. I have a friend who I think said he beat it. And he told me if it was glitchless and actually a finish game, it would’ve been good, atleast gameplay wise.

Thinking about music again…I’m wondering if who’s going to be in charge of that for Sonic Boom. We don’t want that DS game to happen again…

Hardly. Mephiles is the only dude to even actually manage to kill Sonic.

Robotnik is just power in the wrong hands…

Doomsday killed Superman and no one claims he’s the best villain he ever faced. He was a one dimensional plot device and same can be said for Mephiles.

He actually just put Superman in a Super Coma, but whatever.

Since no one gives a shit about Sanic '06 and pretends it didn’t happen, I guess that rules out him killing Sanic.

Also Sonic Boom is an alternate universe right? Pretty sure Cream is safe in the main timeline.

It’s a lot easier to pretend that Sonic 06 never happened as the game retcons itself in it’s ending.

It was a double KO…no one was killed.

They had no choice, the guys upstairs said put it out yesterday and they probably had it in Alpha or some shit.

Blaming the developers for how the game ended up is misguided, they were rushed to make the 360 launch.

Generally good music (great even) but fuck Silver.

Amy in SA1 is the slowest running speed I will accept from a character in a Sonic game and even she had fun ways to move around. Silver just failed misreably from a gameplay standpoint and from plot standpoint was just Shadow but a total bitch. I’m glad his entire debut game gets retconned at the end. Now they have no clue where to stick him in it’s great.

This is also how I comfort myself, if it’s good it’s good but if it’s Spongebob with Sonic it’s something to watch on TV when I actually watch TV and it won’t touch the real continuity.

Win-win that way.

They could have patched the game to be in a more functional state but they didn’t. They were given more time to work on the PS3 port and did jack shit. They did nothing to salvage that mess of a game

How do we know they didn’t ask and get denied? How do we know they weren’t ordered to put it on PS3 as is?

You have to realize after the success of SA2B on Gamecube working for Sonic Team was rough. Sega pushed them really hard to make games in almost no time.

Patching on console was pretty rare-ish during the first year or two of the PS3/360, probably something that never came up.

Would have been nice if it had stayed that way… :coffee:

Pros and Cons po…

Good point, but it also makes developers really, really lazy… If Sonic '06 was this bad back in a time of no patches/updates, imagine how much worse it would have been if Sonic Team had said, “Oh, we can just patch this later…”

I don’t disagree about it making some developers really lazy when it comes to that stuff like that like Bethesda’s games, but in the long run I’d rather the ability to patch be there for those companies that aren’t like that and actually take the time to do thorough checks and Q&A through their game and perhaps miss that 1 possible game breaking bug that slips through the cracks. Nintendo for as thorough they are with making their games as they are still are human. Let’s put 2 Zelda games on the table here, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Both games had 1 random glitch that had the possibility of putting any progress in the game to a stand still…but Twilight Princess didn’t get a patch while Skyward Sword did. So those people who just so happen to save in that one room without having looked on the internet or been aware of said glitch have no choice but to start completely over now. Guess what the people playing Skyward Sword don’t have to do?

Po my brother I will body you, don’t test me.

Not that it’s necessarily relevant, but I’ve seen plenty of people claim Doomsday is one of their favorite villain. And it’s not even always because of his victory over Superman. Some just think he’s a badass character. I mean, you kill him and then he just comes back immune to what last killed him? That’s broken as fuck.

But back on Mephiles, I liked him as a character cause he was no nonsense 100% of the time. He got shit done. He actually accomplished his goals, and actually manages to kill Sonic and destroy the entire world along with it. I liked his design too, because he truly represented an incarnation of evil.

Now I mean, I like Robotnik as a villain, a lot actually. But the dude is too chock-full of his own ego to get anything of use done. He creates all these elaborate schemes and devices to try and thwart Sonic and continues to fail. He never changes his formula, and always has a “more of the same” approach when making up these ridiculous schemes. And Sonic just breezes right on through them. One of the only times I’ve seen Robotnik even come close to finishing Sonic off was when he ejected him out of the Space Colony Ark. It was one of the few moments where Robotnik is actually showing his darker side.

Meanwhile, Mephiles bodies Sonic in one shot. Just like that. All the years of Robotnik trying to thwart Sonic, done in a mere few seconds.

I don’t care what y’all say, he got his shit done. :coffee: He actually manages to win, and is only defeated because someone had to go BACK IN TIME to stop him.

Poor Marine. Looks like she gonna fall into obscurity. Sticks being Amy’s best friend? Cream is getting screwed too.

personaility is ok, name is terrible…

that was just one of many glitches, the death beam that he shot didnt register on sonc’s hitbox

The game had DLC. They could have easily added fixes for the game in the patches that allow you to play the DLC and did absolutely jack shit! The development team had chances to salvage the game and didn’t take it. They let it drown at sea.

Sega released some information on both versions of Sonic Boom. Looks like we’re getting 2 completely different games.
