Y’all are making me want to marathon Sonic.

I think one of these days, I’m gonna step up to the plate and A rank every single fucking mission in SA2. I’ve never seen the hidden Green Hill Zone stage before on my own screen, and I just miss that game in general. Plus it’d be cool to get the alternate costumes. And I really miss chao gardens, good lord…at one point the Chao Garden was more important to me than even playing the actual game. I even had that weird Dreamcast extension you could get where you can load your Chao on it and watch it grow from how many steps you take with it.

You know, now that I think about more, I don’t get why people say we’ve had straight booty Sanik games since after the glory days of the Genesis. We got SA1&2, Colors, Generations, Sonic Rush, Sonic Advance’s 1-3, Sonic 4 (Episode 2), Heroes, Lost World…

Really? I loved the missions because it was all really challenging but chao garden boiled down to:

• go to level

• get good animals

-quit level

• use good animals

• repeat

This was annoying as hell, thank god for that glitch that let you reuse stuff. I freaking hate Chao as a mandatory aspect of the game.

Sonic 4 episode 2 is just as boring as episode 1 only now you have some broken moves.

I’m one of those guys who doesn’t usually mind grinding for hours in an RPG to get what I want. So it’s no surprise I didn’t mind going through Green Forest hundreds of times to get 12 of the same color capsule I needed, bring them to my Chao, and just rinse and repeat. Didn’t really ever bother going for the animals because there were too many variables in terms of which stats were raised and lowered, and I didn’t really want to deal with it.

But how exactly are Chaos “mandatory” aspects of the game anyway? It was completely optional to even care about the chaos. You can beat the whole game without going there even once.

To unlock Green Hill and in the case of the PS3 version get the platinum you needed to beat every race and karate and to do so you needed a Chao that could win them.

Still not really mandatory, per se. It is to get Green Hill zone, but that in itself is an Easter egg. It’s not a part of the main game. You don’t need to unlock it to progress through and complete your playthrough.

Sonic 4 episode 2 is just as boring as episode 1 only now you have some broken moves.

Episode 2 is definitely a better game than episode 1. It was more polished, challenging, better physics and was less heavy handed in it’s homages than the first. Episode 2 is beautiful game while episode 1 looked like a flash game. Act 2 of White Park zone is a feast for the eyes. Honestly, Episode 2 is a decent Sonic game.

Depends what you mean, if you want to 100% the game it is mandatory because 100% means all the emblems if you just want to see the ending then no, it’s not mandatory at all.

Not to mention being locked out of a cool stage because you didn’t want to collect small animals and feed(?) them to a tamogachi is kinda bullshit.

Sonic 06 was terrible so that made it kinda ok and you can at least tell that at some point someone working on it gave a shit but the whole Sonic 4 is so mediocre and so soulless I couldn’t finish it. It’s not bad but it’s not good, it just exists.

I think the only good thing to come out of 06 was Mephiles. Probably my favorite Sanik villain and his design was badass.

mephilles was wack because he was voiced by knuckles who in turn voices everything 4kids which reminded me of 4kids which made hate the game even more

Best thing to come out of 06 was music imo.

I’m also in the minority that liked Silver. Think he just came in at the wrong time in the franchise and the fact that he had a Trunks complex the entire time probably didn’t help.
